Disgusting but fun.
Now, I may be an unusual demographic to buy and use this book, because I have never had any liver or gallbladder problems in my life, and I enjoy robust good health in general. So I sort of just did the Amazing Liver And Gallbladder Cleanse on a whim. I had seen pictures and videos of the things that came out of other people (by the way, I recommend Jaime French's youtube video about her own cleanse - very funny and thorough), and I had heard that we ALL have these "stones" in us, whether they're causing any obvious symptoms or not. I figured, better out than in, right? So I let curiosity take the wheel and went ahead with the cleanse.Let me mention that I read the whole book, cover to cover, and I find myself in firm agreement with Moritz on a number of subjects and in firm disagreement with him on a number of other subjects. We agree that modern medicine often does more harm than good (like when it removes perfectly good gallbladders!) and we disagree on the appropriate diet for humans. Moritz recommends a vegetarian diet with lots of added ghee, and I happen to be a high-fat low-carb carnivore who eats basically zero vegetables or plant foods of any kind.Because of that, I didn't follow Moritz's instructions to the letter. I know that he wasn't actually the inventor of this cleanse, so I knew I didn't have to believe everything he said just because I wanted to use this technique. I'll tell you when and where I differed from his game-plan:1) I didn't eat a low fat or vegetarian diet during the six day lead-up to the cleanse. I ate bacon and eggs and cheese and beef, just like I do every day. This didn't seem to effect the outcome.2) I also didn't want to be drinking 32 ounces of apple juice for six days, as that was way too much sugar for me. I did the alternative 8 ounces of tart cherry juice instead, and that seemed to work just fine.3) I didn't go to get a colonic before or after the cleanse, as he directs. That seemed too expensive, invasive, and gross to me. Instead I did a salt water flush on the night of the fifth day, and another on the morning of the sixth. That involves just chugging four cups of warm water mixed with two teaspoons of natural salt. (Google it for complete instructions). It goes through you and cleans you out. Again, I don't think this negatively affected my results.Other than those changes, I carefully followed Moritz's directions. Just like everyone else who tries this, I released a whole bunch of waxy green "stones." I'd say a couple hundred, most very small, and some about the size of my ring finger nail. This started on the night of the sixth day, and continued, petering off, for another two days. I didn't get any big honkers like some people have shared pictures of, but I figure that that's because I am pretty healthy and haven't ever really been one to abuse my liver. And to address the people who say that these green blobs are the product of a saponification reaction between the olive oil and the Epsom salt, I have to ask, respectfully, what?Saponification takes place when the ester bonds in a fat are broken by a strongly alkaline substance. Usually lye is used, which has a pH of 13-14. It's strong enough to burn your skin, as was shown in the movie Fight Club. Epsom salts have a pH of 7, that is, they are neither alkaline nor acid, but neutral. They would be useless for saponification. In the presence of the acidic grapefruit juice (pH 3) mixed with the olive oil, the whole slurry would be much more acid than alkaline. It might make a nice salad dressing, but it will never saponify. There IS an alkaline substance present, once the slurry moves out of the stomach, and that is the bile itself. Human bile has a pH of 8.2. Even in isolation, that's nowhere near strong enough to create soap, and it's not in isolation. It's added to the slurry for the specific purpose of neutralizing stomach acid. Human stomach acid is very strong, with a pH of 1-2. If that didn't get neutralized, it would eat through the lining of our intestines (one reason why it's essential to keep bile flowing easily from your liver and gallbladder). So the whole reason for the existence of bile is so that the slurry that leaves the stomach can be brought from high acidity back to neutrality. So there is never any part of this process in which a strong alkalinity is present. So the olive oil's ester bonds can't be broken. So no soap can form. So whatever you're seeing in the toilet, it is NOT little blobs of green soap. I'm sorry but the chemistry doesn't work, the math don't math. Try again. If you're still in doubt on this matter, you can prove it to yourself. Instead of using green olive oil for the cleanse, you can instead use clear macadamia oil (Moritz approves this alternative the book). That way, when green stones come out of you, you will know for sure that they are not just congealed olive oil, but actual clots of bile (bile is bright green), and all your doubts will be answered. Let's hear no more about it.Anyway, as to my results: like I said, I was healthy to begin with, so nothing very drastic changed on that front. The most noticable result for me was an enormous surge of energy and motivation that came two days after the cleanse (I should add that that is the same time that I finally stopped seeing green stones in the toilet). I went on an insane purge of clutter, unlike anything I have ever done before. I tackled every stuffed closet, every crammed bookshelf, every jam-packed under-bed-area. It was wild. This was clutter that had been suffocating me for centuries, it felt like, all fought and defeated in three days. Amazing! I can't tell you how relieved I feel now! My house is clear and clean and beautiful. After a few days, this wild surge of energy died back down. A bit disappointing. So that was when I decided to do the liver cleanse again.Moritz says to wait at least three weeks before starting another round, but I still had the extra grapefruits I had bought (not realizing how many I would need for the cleanse - the answer to that is one and a half) and I didn't think there would be any harm in doing the whole thing again, so I did it.For the second round, I used apple cider vinegar instead of tart cherry juice (4Tbsp in 3 cups water, sipped throughout each day) for even less carbs. I also did only one salt water flush, the morning of the sixth day. Otherwise everything just the same.I wish I could end this story on a dramatic cautionary note, like "and then the devil himself plopped out into my toilet and told me to follow directions better" but no, it was fine. On the second round, I got only very small stones, about the size of lentils. But there were at least another two hundred of them, so I think it was still worthwhile to get them out. Here's a helpful hint that Moritz certainly won't tell you: getting plenty of choline in the diet is what allows the body to make phosphatidylcholine, which is what allows the body to maintain fluidity of the bile. In other words, if your diet lacks choline, your bile will clot up into stones in your liver and gallbladder and biliary duct - the same stones we just went to so much trouble to remove. The foods that are richest in bioavailable choline are beef liver, eggs, beef, chicken, fish, etc. Exactly the foods Moritz will tell you are bad for you...Anyway, I do plan to keep repeating this liver cleanse at least once a year. But now that I'm a carnivore, and my diet includes loads of choline, my expectation is that I'll probably never release any of the championship clunkers that some people's photographs show. Oh well, I guess good liver health is better than award-winning toilet-goblins any day!I wish all of you the best of luck with your liver cleanses, and I hope I answered any questions you may have had. I'll just add the final reassurance, for any nervous readers, that at no point in any of this did I feel any pain or sickness. My stomach made some loud gurgling noises after each dose of Epsom salts, but I had no nausea or cramps, ever.My final advice to you (and I'm in harmony with Moritz on this) is STAY HYDRATED! Drink plenty of water throughout the entire process, and for as long as you want to keep a healthy liver.Wait, one last bit of advice - a plastic fork is the perfect utensil for fishing prize stones out of the toilet. It works well, and you can throw it away afterwards.Ah, wait, an even laster bit of advice: this book is available as a free PDF online. Just google it. I hope Amazon doesn't delete my review, for telling you that...Happy cleansing, friends!

Just finished my 16th flush! Wanted to share my experience!
I don’t normally write reviews but I felt that this is an important one to write! These flushes are absolutely legit and completely worth it as long as you are willing to make the commitment. My first flush was Jan 3rd, 2021 and my experience has been a bit different than the reviews I see here. In the book it’s written that you may not release stones the first time and you may experience nausea if everything is in too much of a toxic state and boy was that the case for me!My first cleanse was very intense, nausea began about 2 hours after drinking the cleanse and I spent hours and hours vomiting well into the next day. I didn’t get even a moment of sleep. And then to top it off, I literally released one single barely pea sized stone. The next morning I drank the first dose of epsom salt at 6am like the book says and had to FIGHT to keep it down. I was so nauseous I couldn’t drink the final 8am dose. I was nauseous all the way up to noon that day. Needless to say there were lots of tears with that first cleanse I was so uncomfortable and had nothing to show for it!! And I followed everything exactly as it said! When I started the cleanses I was very sick with chronic illness and the 24/7 pain I felt below my rib scared me so much. Whenever I would bend over slightly I felt like I was squeezing the discomfort and it would feel like something was going to pop. Fortunately, once I set my mind to something like that I do not give up! A month later I did the cleanse again, and I wish I could say it was better but it wasn’t really. I was up sick all night long without a wink of sleep completely exhausted, only difference was that I was able to drink both of the morning epsom salt doses. Once again though, I didn’t really release any stones. It was so frustrating because this cleanse made me so incredibly unwell and I would be so incredibly weak and exhausted the next day only to get what to me looked like no results. This pattern continued until my FIFTH cleanse! I was determined to keep going even without getting the results I wanted because I just knew if I kept trying I just had to eventually release something! My 5th cleanse was sooooo incredibly satisfying I could cry! I released around 350 stones in varying sizes up to the size of a nickel!I was still getting very sick and would be up all night vomiting with each cleanse but I consistently released a satisfactory amount of stones with every cleanse from the 5th one and onward! My 8th cleanse was my first cleanse where I started to get some sleep, my all night nausea session turned into about a 3 hour window which was sooo much better to deal with! The discomfort below my ribcage which is what got me to start the cleanse in the first place remained until my 11th cleanse, pretty much immediately after the 11th cleanse the discomfort finally went completely away!! I feel totally normal under my ribs now! My vomiting sessions also lessened to about a 2 hour window after that! My 13th cleanse was my first cleanse where I did not vomit at all! So it took over a year of cleanses for me to stop getting sick. I felt nausea but didn’t ultimately vomit. And then my 14th cleanse had zero nausea! I slept right through the night and felt normal in the morning! I couldn’t believe it! This last cleanse (#16) I did wake with some mild nausea in the night but it was so mild I didn’t even feel the need to move and just fell right back to sleep. It’s clear that I had a very toxic system and I also had years of chronic illness to show for it. I’m doing amazing and can eat whatever I want now! This cleanse has helped me a lot but I don’t think I would be as far along in my recovery as I am if I hadn’t combined this cleanse with a program called DNRS (Dynamic Neural Retraining System), if you’ve had chronic illness please look into that program because I know that so many people will benefit from it.This cleanse is amazing and I will continue to do it until I am completely clear. I have tried to count my stones and I am up to approx 5,747 stones released! Also the thing about the stones being the olive oil/citrus combo itself is incredibly false considering I’ve vomited the bulk of the cleanse back up during most of my cleanses!!! Fortunately the stones are released in the first half hour after drinking the cleanse since I’ve always kept it down for at least that long so the cleanse still worked very effectively for me! I even released 1,000+ in one session before! And I have not seen an increase in the stones I release since I’ve been keeping it down either. In fact, I’ve been releasing less than I was when I was vomiting! But still a satisfactory number! This has been incredibly worth it, I am amazing every day at how much my digestion has improved and also that I feel like I have a normal rib cage and abdomen now! This cleanse and DNRS are the best commitments I’ve made! It has been challenging but in the hardest of times I just kept reminding myself that I’m doing it for future me. One day I will not be doing these cleanses anymore and future me will be so very grateful that I did it!Oh another thing I want to add! When I started drinking the cherry juice to prep for the first and second cleanse, both times in the week leading up to it I’d start feeling movement below my rib cage!! It felt like something was literally scraping the inside of my liver (it didn’t hurt but was odd and uncomfortable)! I think things were very compacted in there and when I started drinking the juice the stones started trying to move around or something. It was the most strange feeling and never happened again after the second cleanse. But I wanted to mention it just in case since I felt it and it scared me a bit but nothing bad came of it and today I am doing AMAZING!
