Measured exactly 50 grams with a 50 gram test weight I received with a different scale, and pouring water into a measuring cup has nearly exact correspondence between grams and milliliters of water from 50 to 500 mL. Excellent scale.

Love this scale! It did take a couple weeks to arrive, but it’s worth the wait. It’s primary purpose in our house is to weigh coffee beans. My husband is very particular with making coffee and needs to weigh the beans and water for each step of the process. He was looking specifically for a scale that would measure to the tenth place, since cheaper scales tend to not have any decimal places. We tried a couple that were $10-12 from amazon, and I’ll say the Japanese one is much better quality than the various options from China. Those ones lasted a handful of months, but I have a feeling this will last a much longer time. We’ve had it for 2.5 months now. It’s nice looking too!

The scales as a working unit are great but the micro/tare buttons are in Asian not English so I had to put a small sticker on the scales so I could read/remember them in my language.The scales themselves 5 stars and the hard plastic protection box for storage is a nice touch.

Wow! Brilliant scales and clever design. Pre-set to England's gravitational field, ( effective gravity is 0.5% stronger at the poles than at the equator ) but can be changed easily if required. Makes sense if measuring in micro mode of 0.1 grams. Starts counting up in 0.1 grams from zero, so no minimum weight required first. Very sensitive, just blowing on it measures a few micrograms, so take care to use away from draughts when measuring spices/powders etc. Very easy switching of units from grams to ounces to fluids.When switched off and on again, it only remembers whether it was in grams or ounces, not whether in micro mode or fluid mode etc. So it will always start up in either grams or ounces macro mode, but that's not really an issue as a single click of the buttons will set it to the desired mode.Solid click of buttons, so you know when they are pressed and registered. Only takes 3 or 4 seconds to start up and calibrate itself. According to the manual, it will stay on for 10 mins before switching itself off. I have tested this and if left perfectly alone, it will switch itself off after exactly 10 mins. Adding another item will reset the clock to zero, so no need to worry about pressing a button to keep it active. It is so sensitive, that it may fluctuate 0.1 grams if left alone, but this doesn't seem to affect the 10 mins timer. Clever stuff. 10 mins is plenty of time to add additional items.It will automatically change to 0.5 gram increments above 300g, and then to whole grams if the weight exceeds 1500 grams. However, will stay in that setting if you remove some weight, but simply pressing the micro button will cycle it back to desired mode. Tare function works brilliantly. All in all, a very clever set of scales for the kitchen. Doesn't look too bad either, kind of magnolia white rather than brilliant white as in the picture. And can't complain about the price either for what it does.Just received and tested this. Will update at some point to review how it fares over time.** 8 Year Update **What can I say? Great accuracy, by far most critical feature in any scale. Also functional and easy to use. The looks are not great, but that's irrelevant for me.

Finally a scale that won’t turn off automatically while I’m measuring. You turn it on and will stay on for a long time, giving you peace of mind while measuring ingredients. This Tanita is powered with two AA batteries, the measure is easy and alway a hit. Can be used to scale even one tenth of a gram. No fancy glass that can shatter, all plastic easy to clean.

I purchased mine in 2016, and then later purchased the same for my daughter, who still raves about them. I decided to leave this review after searching Amazon to find the link for a friend who needs scales at the minute. All I can say is that I Love these scales. They are accurate, reliable, and, best of all, they don't switch themselves off while you are weighing things. Fabulous.
