Datacolor Spyder X2 Ultra Colorimeter

Have heard about Spyder for ages, and finally bought this X2 for Rs.32,660.00 back in April (2024).I had to buy it because of my ASUS (TUF VG27AQL1A) monitor showing garbage colors compared to my old DELL monitor (which was designed for artists), forcing me to adjust brightness inside games and colors looking weird in Photoshop vs websites.Anyway, calibrated both my monitors (ACER is secondary monitor) and both look same. Color scheme matches, every image looks same on both monitors and I don't have to worry about brightness/gamma in-games, which you usually have to when your monitor is poorly calibrated.As a game developer, this is a must have piece of hardware. Actually, if you're using computers for gaming and editing, get Spyder and do color calibration. Everyone else can ignore this.

Very good quality Spyder X2 Ultra from Datacolor made from very good materials.Until I came across this I did not know monitor colour calibrators were a thing I thought of knew there must be something that does this, as even when I have had the same two brand of monitors using dual display the colours would sometimes look slightly different on one of the monitors.I have to admit this is not a subject I know much about my knowledge of monitors consist of resolution and what ports are at the back of the monitor so I am a complete beginner. I am using this on a iMacThe setup is easy just a case of downloading the software, activating it using the serial number in the box and loading the software. Using the software is reasonably easy you will need to know some basic information on your monitor and how you adjust the brightness, connect the Spyder X2 Ultra directly to your device (Not into a USB hub) and position it on the center of your screen a marker will show up on your monitor where to put it which is a nice touch. The configuration section is where I feel this is where it would be good if you have an understanding of this subject but I will say it is not necessary I just selected the recommended options, there are a few other screens but you just follow the prompts and that is basically it.The actual calibration takes about a minute it is very fast but it does require one interaction from you during the process or it has when ever I run itI have to admit I was not sure how accurate or good this was at first as the first time I run it it reduced my brightness a lot BUT after looking at the recommendations it turned out my screen was over 50% brighter than the recommendation it did take me a while to adjust to the new brightness but now I can honestly say I have had my monitor way too bright for many years. The good thing is you do not have to accept the new settings you can change it back at any point.Another feature I like a lot and I can not work out if my iMac always did this or just since the software was installed it runs always in the background is the brightness now adjusts automatically based on how much light is in the room. I am sure it did not do this before BUT I could be wrong.I do a lot of photography and the ability to make sure my monitors have the same or very similar calibration/colour profiles I see now is a must to make sure I have accurate and true colours when editing/viewing the images. I think it is crazy that I have not been using something like this before BUT I will say I don’t feel this is a must have accessory at my level of photography I have been done a very good job before BIUT if you are a professional photography then I would say YES this is something you should definitely have.Overall I am very happy with the Spyder X2 Ultra and I would definitely recommend it BUT it would depend on your photography/editing level.

Mon moniteur : Iiyama ProLite XUB2792QSU.Un profil déniché sur le Web m’avait permis d’obtenir de très bonnes performances pour les couleurs, mais la sonde Datacolor a encore amélioré le rendu.Le logiciel est assez austère, mais au moins il est clair. Il nous guide pas à pas et l’étalonnage est un jeu d’enfant. Peu de risques de se tromper en achetant chez Datacolor : la Spyder est une sonde qui est connue depuis longtemps et s’est améliorée au fil des années.Je joins un montage (grossier !) des résultats de différents essais, en espérant qu’il soit assez grand pour être lisible. Explications :– test 1 et test 2 : tests identiques faits l’un immédiatement après l’autre, avec la sonde maintenue en place entre les deux. Je voulais vérifier la constance des mesures. On peut observer quelques différences. Ces deux tests ont été faits avec un étalonnage de l’équilibre des gris paramétré sur « rapide ».– étalonnage complet : comme son nom l’indique, j’ai réinitialisé tous les paramètres de mon moniteur, puis j’ai effectué un étalonnage complet avec la Spyder X2, avec l’étalonnage de l’équilibre des gris paramétré sur « meilleur ». J’ai testé la précision des couleurs après cela. On peut constater que ça améliore encore les choses.On note la présence d’une barre turquoise tout le temps située à un delta de presque 5. C’est une constante, et le site Les Numériques l’avait déjà remarquée il y a plus de quatre ans sur la SpyderX Elite. Vu mes connaissances, je suis bien incapable de l’expliquer…Mis à part le prix de l’appareil, il n’y a pas grand-chose à lui reprocher, puisqu’il fait son travail vite et bien. La note est donc maximale.

Quando si ha a che fare con il mondo della fotografia professionale ogni dettaglio non deve essere lasciato al caso, ed è proprio quello che spesso fa la differenza in questo campo.Il calibratore per monitor Spider X2 Ultra, per monitor HDR ad alta luminosità, ne è a mio avviso un chiaro esempio lampante.Evoluzione del modello Spider X, la nuova versione X2 si presenta con la stessa fisionomia, ma con una marcia in più in termini di velocità di calibrazione. Il calibratore contiene una telecamera in grado di rilevare i pixel dei nostri LCD e di un sensore in grado di rilevare la luce esterna.La calibrazione di un monitor per chi esegue fotoritocco è fondamentale perché spesso, se non sempre, i monitor di costo basso o medio escono dalla fabbrica con settaggi inadatti ad un editing fotografico o video. Spesso i colori sono troppo spinti e distanti da quello che effettivamente è la realtà, dandoci una percezione sfalsata dell’effetto cromatico, della saturazione e del contrasto. Questo strumento ci consente di avere a portata di mano un settaggio standard ottimale per tutti i monitor in circolazione il più possibile fedele alla realtà.Ho eseguito la calibrazione sul mio laptop facendo un video del pre e del post calibrazione e devo dire che i risultati sono molto marcati, evidenziando quindi una profonda differenza tra i settaggi di default e quelli utili per l’editing fotografico.In questa maniera si va ad evitare un sovraccarico di colori chiari, il classico effetto dei colori sparati, poiché il calibratore tende soprattutto a bilanciare toni di luminosità bassi.La procedura di calibrazione è piuttosto semplice. Andrà installato il programma “SpyderX2_6.0_Setup” direttamente sul pc e scaricabile attraverso il link presente nell’opuscolo all’interno della confezione. Una volta installato bisognerà collegare il calibratore alla porta USB in modo che possa essere riconosciuto dal programma. Dal menù in basso a destra potremo cliccare con tasto destro sull’icona del programma e avviare l’applicazione Spider X2. Sarà necessario inserire il Serial Number presente sul fondo della confezione per attivare il programma. Una volta eseguito vi verrà chiesto di posizionare il calibratore sullo schermo in una determinata zona indicata. Il mio consiglio è quello di inclinare leggermente lo schermo in modo che il calibratore si adagi perfettamente allo schermo senza ciondolare. Una volta posizionato è possibile eseguire la calibrazione che impiegherà solamente qualche minuto per essere eseguita. Al termine dell’operazione è possibile salvare la calibrazione e vedere il pre e il post calibrazione per rendersi effettivamente conto della differenza.Dato che anche i monitor, soprattutto quelli economici, hanno un loro ciclo di vita durante il quale i colori possono alterarsi, il mio consiglio è quello di eseguire la calibrazione 1 volta ogni 2 mesi. Inoltre la calibrazione deve essere necessariamente effettuata con pochissima presenza di luce, quasi al buio, per avere un risultato ottimale.Utilissima inoltre la possibilità di calibrare più monitor con lo stesso strumento, in modo da avere un unico settaggio identico per tutti i monitor.Per chi ne avesse la necessità c’è la possibilità di poterlo utilizzare con un piedistallo grazie al foro filettato, ma a mio avviso il modo più facile è appenderlo al monitor inclinandolo leggermente.Concludendo mi reputo soddisfatto di questo strumento che reputo utilissimo in ambito professionale o per chi cerca standard elevati, mentre lo reputo un di più, abbastanza superfluo per chi fa del semplice foto ritocco a livello amatoriale.Ho avuto modo di recensire questo prodotto con totale imparzialità grazie al programma Amazon Vine del quale faccio parte.

Insgesamt überwiegen die Vorteile dieses Produkts, und es ist gerade für Profis eine Investition, die sich lohnt.

Ich hatte mir dieses Gerät gekauft um meinen LG C1 im PC Mode zu kalibrieren und an meinem Laptop Lenovo Yoga 7 anzupassen. Leider unterstützt Calman Home den neuen Spyder noch überhaupt nicht. Bei der neuen Calibrite Display Plus HL oder Calibrite Display Pro HL Reihe muss ein Produktionsfehler vorliegen und ich kann jeden nur vor dem Kauf dieses Produktes warnen. Dies war der Grund, dass ic mir den Spyder X2 zugelegt habe. Der erste Colorimeter von Calibrite hatte immerhin wenigstens eine Woche lang funktioniert auch wenn hier das angezeigte schon recht merkwürdig aussah. Doch jetzt der 2. Kauf des kleineren Rebranded Display pro mit einer Helligkeit von 3000 Nits hat erst gar nicht an irgendeinem Rechner funktioniert. Nicht am Macbook Pro, nicgt am Lenovo Joga und auch nicht an meinem Windoows 10 Pc mit Nvidia RTX 2080. Ich nehme schwer an das zu schwache USB Anschlüsse verbaut sind. Mir hat bei dem ersten Calibrite Gerät Windows tatsächlich eine Überspannung des USB Ports angezeigt und danach nichts mehr. Das Datacolor Gerät funktioniert einwandfrei nur die anderen Hersteller sollten jetzt mal Treiber dafür nachlegen. Auch für DisplayCal und HCFR gibt es momentan noch keine Treiberunterstützung. Es funktioniert lediglich die Kalibrierungssoftware von Datacolor, die zwar gegenüber der letzten Version des Spyder X gut verbessert wurde, aber wohl nach wie vor keiner professionellen Kalibrierungssoftware das Wasser reichen kann. Sie hat auch an meinem Laptop zum Beispiel nicht optimal funktioniert. Mein Weißpunkt hat überhaupt nicht gepasst, währendessen an meinem Windows 10 PC alles perfekt funktioniert hat. Ich finde das Gerät hat immer noch einen leichten Rotstich zumindest in der Grauskala. 1dLut Gradation. Die Farben sehen aber jetzt richtig aus gegenüber der Vorgängerversion wo wirklich alles einen Totstich hatte. Also sehr zu empfehlen für zumindest Fotografen, Designer und Grafiker, Mediengestalter die auf kalibrierte Geräte angewiesen sind. Leider nicht momentan für Fernseher zu empfehlen. Ichdenke im Endeffekt hätte der Spyder eine bessere Qualität wenn es vernünftige Treiberunterstützung mal in Zukunft gibt. Es ist immer noch besser einen Rotstich zu korrigieren als einen Blau- Grün Stich was die Calibrite Geräte leider haben. Die Standardsoftware ist zudem für einen durschnittlichen User sehr benutzerfreundlich designed was man von dieser total verbuggden CProfiler Software von Calibrite nicht behaupten kann. Das ist absoluter Schroot und wirkt von Anfang an schlampig. Soviel zu meiner ausführlichen Rezession.
