HAPPY ENDING - I'm sharing an ALMOST frustrating experience with you.
Dear All,I would like to share an ALMOST frustrating experience we faced that ultimately had a happy ending. As a lifelong fan of the Star Wars saga, I’ve passed my passion on to my son. Together, we enjoy building LEGO models, having created several ships from the series, including a Tie Fighter and the Millennium Falcon. In February 2024, we were thrilled to purchase an X-Wing, which quickly became our favorite model to build. However, after a few months, I noticed my son was struggling to assemble it, even though he had successfully built other ships before. Upon investigation, we discovered that several pieces were missing from one of the bags — specifically, bag 4 was nearly empty. We attempted to reach out to LEGO and even visited a store in New York for assistance, but they advised us to order the missing pieces online. This process became tedious, as we had to identify and list each missing piece individually.Adding to the frustration was the uncertainty about whether the other bags contained missing pieces, as we couldn’t proceed with the assembly without the necessary components. It was especially disappointing to face such issues with a substantial and cherished toy intended for a child. As time went on, exchanging the set was no longer an option, and I didn’t want a refund; all we desired was to complete the X-Wing. We found ourselves stuck with an unfinished model (as shown in the photo), feeling a sense of loss and frustration. After I shared my concerns in a post on Amazon one Sunday night, LEGO reached out to us and promptly sent all the missing pieces.Today, we finally completed the X-Wing, and our frustration transformed into gratitude for a company that stands by its commitment to quality and customer service. I changed my review from one star to a well-deserved five stars.Thank you so much, LEGO!The X-Wing is incredible!Sincerely,Jorge Marcelo Martins da Silva

Awesome UCS upgrade to the X-Wing
Badass build. The opening and closing wing mechanism is great. Definitely my favorite Lego Star Wars build to date. My only complaint is the lack of the support pieces for the stand that were not included but listed as a step in the build(picture below)Luckily I reinforced the stand with extra pieces left over from bag 2 and 9.

Great Lego set
2nd LEGO set ever for me, I’m 33 years old. I buy these not to play with, but display. Yes, this isn’t the sturdiest of sets, but it looks amazing. I brought it out to my 70 year old parents to look at and they were amazed, which is cool since they loved Star Wars growing up. It’s challenging during some parts, but it was fun and rewarding. Once it’s fully displayed on the stand, it’s massive and majestic. There’s a reason it’s an 18+ set, 18+ year olds aren’t meant to play with toys. Also, my wings don’t sag, I don’t have issues with side panels staying put, and I love it on display. Looks great next to my ornithopter!

Things to know
The printed instructions are a victim of copy/paste. After page 270, it goes back to 239. Would seem the pieces are missing, it is because the pasted is the wrong wing. However, the digital version is correct and I was able to finish the model. Also, in Bag five there are four pieces missing, but I have enough "left over" pieces from other models I was able to substitute. If this is your first Lego Star Wars model, you will need to order the four replacements, it is easy and free on lego.build/missing website.

Fragile and frustrating
This is one of the most frustrating Lego sets I’ve assembled. There are points where you need to assemble the wings and there are only 3 hidden points holding a decent size piece together. Moving this around or a slight breeze will break it all down. I have assembled and disassembled the wings multiple times because a cover comes off. It shouldn’t feel so flimsy. The functionality of the wings is also delicate. I feel like I’ll break it everytime I switch modes of the wings. There is an elastic inside that operates it but easily not fully functional. I’ve had to disassemble to make sure it’s fully engaged multiple times. It has been but just doesn’t look symmetrical.Extremely frustrating set and not work the large price tag. It does look good but don’t put where it can be bumped.

What are you reading reviews for?
Just get it. A review isn't going to stop you. It's huge though. Here it is compared to another xwing.
