How deep is the grate? (Front to back)

The grate fell apart when used in fireplace. So, I don't think it matters how deep it is. But I think it's about 1‎8 inches long, and 7 inches tall.

What does lifetime warranty cover! Can you be more specific?

First few reviews look horrible. Why does amazon recommend?

I haven't used it in a fireplace. I bought 2 of them to use in my homemade smoker. There are different sizes and this one was perfect for what I needed. The next size up was too large for my smoker but would have been better suited for a medium size fireplace perhaps. That is my best guess is that complaints must have had to do with the size. I have no complaints about the quality or size.

around 4& a half inches maybe 5? grate is narrow 7 to 8 inches
