I got the 4' x 8' mat to replace the interlocking foam tiles I have been using for the last 15+ years in my basement home gym. Our basement floor is concrete with tile that has been painted, so any cushioning helps to make my workouts more comfortable. Over time the interlocking foam tiles have warped and are kind of slippery on the floor, which made me less likely to actually use the space. This mat will change all that!The mat arrived *very* tightly rolled up and wrapped in plastic. It was quite a workout just prying the mat out of the cardboard box in which it shipped - I ended up breaking the box down around the mat to get it out.Once I carefully cut and removed the binding plastic the mat rolled out pretty easily - I had it on top of my old foam tiles to start just to have a little more friction to keep it spread out.Y'all. This mat STINKS. There is just so much off gassing. If you are sensitive to chemical odors, this is not the mat for you. I also was in the process of a major overhaul/cleaning of my basement, so the smell of those heavy duty Swifer wet mop/wipes actually overpowered the smell of the mat - it's been about five days and the chemical smell *seems* to have dispersed quite a bit. It's hard to tell because I ran my heavy duty air filter in the basement for a couple days to combat the stench of those wet wipes! I can still smell the ghost of those wipes more than the mat right now.The mat is thinner than I expected - in fact, I might keep the interlocking foam tiles under the mat for a little extra cushioning. The mat would probably be enough padding on a wood floor.There is a very obvious top and bottom to the mat - the "top" has what at first appeared to be a rather slick surface. I do most of my workouts barefooted, so it's not concerning to me. If you work out in your socks, this might be a slip hazard!In the end, I think this slightly slicker surface will make the mat *much* easier to clean than the old flooring material I have in my home gym.All in all, I think this mat will suit my needs with the caveat that it is probably not for the very smell sensitive nor sock-footed exerciser!

STRONG CHEMICAL SMELL which is a no go at our house. This was after I very carefully picked out a mat that claimed to be eco friendly and not have a chemical odor. About the average mat you will find in this price range, I have had better and I have had worse. It does not appear to be for heavy duty use, since I already have a small tear in it from light use.Materials used here are average for an exercise mat. Using foam over using rubber is not Ideal.All said, it's about average, nothing heavy duty or durable to this at all. Better options are out there.

Nice big Mat but I was expecting it to be a little thicker, I still give it a 5 cause it stays in place. good for yoga or exercise.
