Great kite for kids
This kite was amazing for my four-year-old child. Just make sure you’re out on a windy day and this thing will takeoff. The design on it is pretty cool and the durability isn’t bad either for the price. The string is well beyond long enough to fly the kite, and it is pretty durable as well. It wasn’t as large as I had. I thought it was gonna be but it’s still a pretty decent size kite. My kid absolutely love taking it out, but unfortunately, it doesn’t get that windy here.

Super easy to finish assembling, catches win easily
I'll be honest... I didn't even check for instructions so that was my bad. The kit was partially assembled in the bag (meaning half the rods were already in place) and all I had to do is put the other side of the rods for the cross braces in and make sure they were sitting in the pockets at the edges. Those reinforced pockets are pretty awesome though and I suspect will keep this flying for a long time. The tails on this are LONG... that's my only minor complaint... but you'll see it's still 5 stars over all. Had a couple of instances where the tail would get caught up in the string and we had to untangle it. Admittedly our first flying day was some very sporadic wind vs constant wind. It only took a mild breeze to get this to want to fly though and MOST of the time you didn't have to run at all. If you're at the beach it'll just be a matter of letting it go and it'll go up with no effort at all.Sure wish some of the kites I flew as a kid were as sturdy and easy to fly as this one! Also love the fishing tackle method of attachment to the kite. Very easy to just clip it on and go. If you end up with a string break, just tie the clip to the next length of string and you're back flying.

Perfect for kids
Easy assembly would be this kite's main positive aspect. The kite has all of its spines already in place and all you have to do is connect them at the joints. My kite is blue and it looks very nice, simple design and color scheme. The material is very durable the nylon shell feels strong enough to handle most wind conditions and will not rip in the air. I've only been able to use it a handful of times and getting it up is easy and it stays up for a while. The string is strong so I haven't had any issues with that.

Easy to assemble, unimpressive flight characteristics
If you're looking for an easy to assemble, unsophisticated kite to fly at the beach or anywhere with a steady breeze, you could do worse than this kite. Printed assembly instructions were not that helpful, but were hardly necessary if you have a modicum of mechanical ability. Honbo Kite web address redirected to a Facebook page with a few videos and not a lot of action; I was able to find one mildly useful video showing a few details of kite assembly, but it really only made sense if you already know how to assemble the kite.My kite arrived in a package that looked more like a long envelope -- very convenient for carrying it around and keeping it safe. Both the kite and its carrying case were well constructed, with good strong sewn seams. The included string and handle are decent quality, and the end of the string already had a snap swivel tied on, so it was easy to connect to the kite keel. Disconnecting it from the keel was a bit more difficult, however, but it was still manageable.Honbo claims it took over six months to design this kite... I have no idea why, because the design is not really that amazing. I got much better performance out of kites I used to make, many years ago, out of two sticks, string, glue, a sheet of newspaper, and old bed sheets torn into strips for the tail. This kite feels heavy for its size and surface area, and it's definitely not a light breeze kind of flyer. It's best suited for a constant moderate wind; heavier gusts tend to send it rapidly diving down toward the ground. Unfortunately there is only one attachment point for the string on the keel, so it's not practical to experiment with different angles of attack with this kite.Five stars for quality of construction and durability, and convenience of the whole package, but four stars overall because it's not as responsive or interesting to fly as I would like.

Flies great once it’s up in the air
This is a very high quality kite! It takes a few attempts to get the kite in the air but once it’s flying it stays flying. It’s very responsive to tugging on the string. We flew it several times for at least 30 minutes each time. My 8 year olds were able to fly the kite too and had a blast! My kids got the kite stuck 30 feet up in a pine tree. We tugged on the string hard and were able to get the kite out without the string or kite being damaged at all! Where the string attaches to the kite is very sturdy, and the string didn’t fray.I definitely recommend this kite (especially for the price) and will be getting another one!

Temperamental Kite
This is a decent, small kite. The materials, colors and craftsmanship are good. The spreaders are assembled in two pieces allowing for it to pack away in a nice small pouch. I was able to assemble it in a couple of minutes without reading the instructions. The the clip on the end of kite string is a little tricky to attach to the keel due to it's small size and strong spring tension (and it is has a sharp point that can easily pierce the kit fabric - or your finger - so be careful). On a windy, gusty day, I took it out for a try. It took a few minutes and several failed attempts to get enough of a gust of wind to get it high up in the sky. I won't blame the kite for this - the winds were gusting from 0-15 mph. The kite crashed down a couple of times because the gusts died down and the kite wasn't high enough to reach sustained windflow. However, once I was almost at full string extension, for no particular reason and after just barely being up for a minute, the kite decided to do a u-turn and headed straight down to the ground. It's currently sitting in my back-door neighbor's rose bush . . .Once I recover the kite I will give it another try and report back whether or not I am able to get it to fly for any extended period of time.
