It's compact, well designed, and perfect for those jobs where a full-size scraper is simply too large. I don't normally write reviews, but this product blew me away. I've spent the past weeks laboriously stripping paint and wallpaper from walls in my own home and at a friend's place. It has been tiring and awful, especially with the heat, and has taken me such a long time to make even the slightest progress. I tried standard scrapers and stanley blade ones, but the blades became dull so quickly I was going through an unreasonable number of blades or working with dull blades so my efforts resulted in chipping the plaster more than removing the paint. On top of that, a lot of effort was required for each area and I ended up spraining my hand and developing callouses. Before long I started to look for other items... scoring tools, solutions... I tried them all with very little success. Solutions were messy to apply, had long waiting times or were just too expensive for the large areas I needed to strip. The worst ones barely seemed to make a difference. I searched online and came across this. The reviews seemed too good to be to true, but I had no other options and decided to give it a try. It was more than I would usually spend, but at this stage I knew it would be cheaper overall than constantly buying more blades/stripping solutions, if it lived up to expectations. Came through my door a few hours ago and I couldn't wait to try it. Straight out the box it was bigger than a lot of the other scrapers, but the ergonomic handle and extra grip knob made it easy to handle and direct. I took it to a patch I had been working on and scraped it down; with just a bit of effort a ribbon of paint came away from the wall. It was like cutting through butter! I was ECSTATIC. I had to try more... I ended up finishing stripping a whole alcove because it was so easy. Even when there wasn't an edge to scrape from, dragging the scraper on the paint a few times would reveal the plaster below with startling efficiency. Furthermore, there was minimal damage to the plaster below - with other scrapers there were chips and notches everywhere, whilst here there was only some sparse damage (which may well have been due to my own eagerness/haste). Best of all - my hand did not ache afterwards, I felt like I could go on for hours! The blade is extremely resilient and sharp and the handle has a great comfortable design making it a formidable tool. Cannot recommend enough.

Ahead of me I had the arduous task of stripping a staircase. It had several coats of wood stain on it. In the past I've used all the usual suspects - a paint scrapers, paint strippers, sand paper, orbital sanders and honestly after several hours of absolute physical torture they do eventually do the job. For this job I was convinced there must be something better for the job - to make life easier. I checked this out but was initially put off by the price - it seemed quite a lot of money given that you can get similar items for under £10. In the end I thought it was worth a try and quite honestly this is one of the best purchases I've EVER made from Amazon. Using this for the first time I felt like Thor lifting his hammer. The wood stain came off like I was buttering toast. After just a couple of scrapes I was back to bare wood. I was almost giggling to myself in disbelief. In fact I stopped for a second after a minutes use - scratching my head - wondering how the hell this thing was doing what it was actually doing. I also had some door frames to strip which were covered in several layers of Gloss Paint. They didn't need doing right away but my curiosity got the better of me. As I planed through the gloss paint like circular saw through a loaf of bread I had to reign myself in as I was starting to feel like a God with my new found powers! In all seriousness though - it's very rare that a product actually does what it states it can do and even rarer when it exceeds what you thought was possible. This product does it for sure. If you worrying about the price - don't. It will save you hours of frustrating labour. Even after completing the entire staircase the blade was still as sharp and efficient as new. I'd even hit a few nails/staples too which would have rendered cheaper scrapers entirely useless. The Carbide blade really is a technological marvel. I reckon you could strip a cruise liner with this and the blade would still be begging for more. I'm feeling so masculine after using this tool I might actually use it for shaving - it's that good!

The item is overall very good at scraping. However, 1 star removed for the piece of metal holding the blade in has snapped during normal use, with no option for a single replacement part.

An excellent tool for scrapping off varnish from a kitchen worktop. Made our lives so much easier as it was so simple to use & brought up the old wood so easily. Recommend- 5*

This gets stuff done. Brilliant scraper.

Great tool used to get an indent out on a pine door. Nice and sharp. Once you get used to the angle that you need to drag towards you. Although not a cheap tool it can be used for a long time before changing the blade. I have another carbide scrapping tool half this price but no comparison

Very stable and good quality blade compared to cheaper noname scrapers.
