The Purple Cow Go Fish! - Sports - The Classic Card Game with a General Knowledge Boost for Kids & Families Ages 6+

There are some revised rules to this Go Fish game (and an instruction card included so you know how to play). After dealing the appropriate number of cards to each player (based on how many are playing), the first player will ask an opponent if they have a particular category, and if that person says, "Yes," they then ask again if they have a particular card within that category. If the opponent does not have the particular card, they will respond: "Go Fish." If they do, the player collects only the exact card asked for, then continues his/her turn. The instructions do not specify whether you may also go again if you draw the "fish" you were asking for from the pile, which is how I remember playing as a kid. Each player is trying to get as many books of four cards as possible; and the game ends when someone runs out of cards in their hand.The categories are: Winter Sports, Extreme Sports, Water Sports, Ball Games, Sports on Wheels, Artistic Sports, Martial Arts, Mental Sports, Athletics, and Middle Age Sports (four sports included in each category). Not every individual sport can be included, obviously, but it’s a good variety. I like the educational value of interesting facts on each card.I do think for a kids card game, the cards could be a higher quality/durability. The cards are nice and glossy on the front (fact side) and a more typical paper on the back. I found one slightly creased card and two small card scuffs out of the box, and an additional card became slightly bent while playing our first game, so I'm not sure how long these will last before the kids start remembering which card is which by their identifying damages. In the meantime, we are having a lot of fun with this game.

This Go Fish Sports Card Game gives directions for playing the game like a Go Fish game, but it doesn’t really say how to use the sports facts in the game. We played the game as Go Fish but you had to read the question and the answer in order to collect the card from someone. Once we are familiar with the facts, we’ll probably just play it like Go Fish.The game comes in a nice metal box and the cards are made from a medium card stock. The cards are shiny on one side, but not the other, which was a disappointment. It feels strange and the cards may not last as long.

This game has a little twist to the regular "go fish." You're supposed to collect 4 cards to make a set. But, you can play this game like the classic go fish game and only collect 2 per category.The cards are kind of large for a 6 year old, however,I like the sports facts on each card. It gives topics to discuss even if you don't like to play sports.I checked the "Purple Cow" page and they have a lot of interesting educational games.

I got this for my boyfriends daughter who is 8. She loved playing it with me. It’s a different variation of go fish so it’s not too childlike for her to want to play it and she liked it a lot. Definitely recommend getting it for your child if they are her age.

These cards have sports facts on them. They do not seem to go with the game, " Go Fish!" We made it work though!
