I use it in HE machines most of the time, sometimes for hand washing, works either way. **Q: Is it scented or unscented?** A: It is scented, but the scent is very mild. The photo with stains: leicht- light stains, normal is normal; stark is dirty/soiledWasserhsrte is "how hard is your water, basically.Weich/mittle is soft/middle; hart/sehr is hard/veryhard. You can do a conversion if ml to ounces etc via google. Or if you have a ml measuring cup. This is not a "regular" detergent but for wool and sensitive fabrics or like I use it to do a cold wash of pants, blankets that are wool and not wool. It's gentle on clothes, mild scented, and can be used in a front loader, top loader or when washing by hand. And it gets the stains out! When I travel, I pack a small container of perwoll in my suitcase, and whether I'm in Paris or on a remote tropical island, I can wash my clothes by hand and even get out the worst stains. This is particularly appropriate for wool and delicate items. I also like Persil gel, which is a stronger detergent, and used for machine washing only (not by hand) and does a slightly better job on hard stains. The Persil megaperls is what I use for everyday, but I pre treat with the perwoll or gel. Highly recommended.
