This rain gauge was just what I was looking for: it is easy to read even from a distance, it’s easy to empty, and it allows me to be certain of rainfall amounts in my garden, which sometimes vary a great deal from amounts reported in other parts of town. My Dad had one like it that wore out. I replaced it for father's day. He can look out to the stockade fence through the patio door and never leave his recliner. Very easy to read and large markings.

Great rain gauge. Easy to read from a distance. Not intended to measure tenths or hundreds of inches of precipitation ,but easy to read 1/4 inches.I had a similar unit for more than 10 years and it was great, but finally wore out.

Big enough to read from the porch. There is a red disk that floats in the tube so I can see how much rain we've had so far without getting wet. It takes a few seconds longer to empty than my old guage but it's well worth it. Not quite a 1/4" last night.
