You just know there’s something you could do to grow another avocado, or at least another plant, but you don’t know what it is and, maybe even after keeping that pit around for a few days until it starts to dry out and the skin begins to peel off, in the end, into the trash it goes, along with a pang of regret and a faint whiff of failure.
