Haynes Manuals N. America, Inc. Toyota 4Runner, 2003 - 2009 (Haynes Repair Manual)

This manual is so valuable and helps me make so many repairs to my car, I use in conjunction with YouTube videos. Provides torque specs and fluid capacities. Great seller too!

I also have the Chilton book for the same 4Runner. This one gives a little more details for DIY people; non-mechanics like myself. I’ve used the Haynes books for 3-4 different vehicles and they are great with so many different repairs. Once you learn how to do some of the things in here, you’ll realize the value of it and how much money you can save! It’s also good to be able to troubleshoot and research and repair and determine whether or not I can (or want to) take it on myself or have a pro tackle it.

These manuals are great for beginning to intermediate shade-tree mechanics. Great diagrams, pictures, charts... all top notch as one would expect from Haynes. However, I was surprised to find that this particular manual (for 2003-2009 4Runners) does not have instructions on how to replace the rack and pinion unit on the car... probably because the folks at Haynes don't advise do-it-yourselfers to replace such vital parts and, according to Toyota, the job requires "Special Service Tools" (SSTs)... a fancy universal term used for anything from pitman/steering arm puller to union nut wrench. Anyway, for a well-into-intermediate level mechanic like myself, these repairs are fairly common and often uncomplicated. Luckily, I am able to access Toyota's service manuals to complete the job. For nearly every other repair, this manual is great.

This book gave information for the home repair of the car.
