NOT squirrel proof!
The squirrels have demolished the plastic container inside the cage as the holes are too big! They hang upside down and eat away the plastic making the seed drop to the ground. Not fit for purpose and certainly not worth the money! I'd like a refund please.

One size definitely won't fit all
The good news is that this immediately attracted brave blue and coal tits, quite prepared to fly in, grab a beakfull and sit on a nearby branch to crunch and munch. After a few such forays one was even prepared to hop inside and take a more leisurely graze. So far - possibly by dint of positioning, the squirrels have not come calling - brambly impenetrable wild rose bush gone a bit feral is an excellent base for birds, but can be a bit challenging for a chunky squirrel. Not to mention the resident cats, forced to gaze in frustration at snacks snacking well beyond reach. However, the outer cage barrier needs to have small enough apertures to prevent a svelte and slimline squirrel from getting his head through (and may not even quite do that, given other reviewers) What i did notice is that the lovely on the verge of being tubby robin that appeared in the wake of the blue tits couldn't get through either. He had a few tries, and clearly wasn't comfortable with the idea of squeezing into a small aperture, and after about 6 attempts to figure out if there was any way of doing it, he flew away. But at least this cage is attracting the little birds. I've had much more difficulty with a which was hanging in the same place as the seed feeder - initially containing some seeds, rather than nuts, and the birds studiously avoided it, the only creature to show frustrated interest, the squirrel (couldn't quite get to it)Later edit - proper cleaning is a bit of a struggle, as seeds slip down between the softer plastic tubing and the hard base. A better design would have enable complete dismantling, as it took about 10-15 minutes work with an opened out paperclip, pulling at the springs on the bird perches, to wriggle out the trapped seeds. Necessary really, or all swollen with water from washing they would dampen and rot new seed.

1-0 Birds v Squirrels a great product well made and for a reasonable price.
Fantastic feeder, the squirrels cannot get into it!!! It is well made, came well packaged and was a very reasonable price. The birds love it and the squirrels dont. I now need to replace an old nut feeder we have and shall be looking at other Tom Chambers products. The product has 3x clips on the bottom which when un-done allow the cage to be removed. This is how you gain access to refill the seed cylinder. Once full, the cylinder is then lifted by the hang hook back into the protection cage, the hang hook goes through the top and once hanging, allows you to re-secure the 3 clips on the base.

Difficult to refill
The feeder is fairly strong, although I expected it to be more robust as far as thickness of metal caging is concerned, some feeders of this style look much stronger. It is difficult to get seed into the tube to refill it.
