Nothing
I have heard of Struth for years but I was mostly unfamiliar with his work. I know he was involved with the Dusseldorf School and the Bechers and I had seen a few of his photographs but that was about all. My expectations were to see interesting photos done from a unique viewpoint. What I got were pages of photos of empty urban streets without any points of interest, straight on studio portraits showing no individuality whatsoever and technically well done pictures of interiors without any real focus on a subject.Concept in art is a great thing but the ability to articulate the concept is lacking in these photos.Maybe the text provides some clue as to the purpose of these photos but after flipping through the book and finding not a single picture worthy of my time, I surrendered. To reuse the over used quote, "Move along. Nothing to see here."

Good book!
If you like Struth, then you would like this book, which is a summary of his work and interviews with him.If you don’t like his style or Dusseldorf way of image making, then you won’t like this book!
