It protects the tablet but, would also recommend buying the extra glass that goes on the front. The charging cord can still fit into the device while this cover is on (many cannot) so that is a major plus. This thing rates very high on my list. I have 3 kids ranging from 1-9 and we use this tablet for all of them. It has been dropped, stepped on, stood on, ran over with a powerwheels, dropped from a second story, etc and the fire didn’t break in this case.
