Excellent World Building
I thoroughly enjoyed this near space adventure. Only rarely did I find a annoying incongruence or wrong word usage. eg: University used where universe made much more sense.

The saga continues. Engaging story.
The interaction of the characters was quite believable. I think the science might have been stretched. The orbiting worlds needed steady imports from Earth and then suddenly they don't and they can build a starship besides. The bringing in the asteroid for resupply was good, but I don't think it really covered the needs. Fortunately, it did not seriously detract from the story. It reads as a wonderful adventure and saga of humans moving into the universe.

This material is Haldeman of old
Creative approach a to end of civilization and the start of two new phases in different places…greatly entertaining and fast paced. Recommend for a good couple of afternoons reading sessions

Earth with only Young People
In this book we follow Jeff on Earth, which has been hit by a designer plague that kills people after about age 20. Jeff is immune because a genetic anomaly. There are strange, brutal beliefs that sprout, one based on Charles Manson combined with Christianity that results in crucifixions and cannibalism.

Review for the three book Worlds trilogy
I really enjoyed all three of the novels in this trilogy and this review applies to all three. The plots in each are are engaging and multistranded. The main character, who's life forms the core of the three book, is well developed, complex and realistic, as are the other characters who play lesser roles. This is set in the future, so it is science fiction. But the future science aspects are just part of the background to the characters and plot. The best thing I can say is when finished with one, I couldn't to start the next and I was sorry when the third novel came to an end.

Purchased as a gift
I bought this book as a gift, but the recipient was very happy with it. The shipping, packaging, etc. were just as advertised.

A future awfully like today
As part of a trilogy, this one advances the story nicely, moving towards the third part. The protagonist is a person who seems to be a focus of major events, and while the story is somewhat apocalyptic, Haldeman gives us hope that the human race will go on. Interesting how sci-fi writers keep showing us what's happening today in a future that looks all too familiar because it's repeating what we see around us. Haldeman, like all the best writers, makes it work very well.

Joe Haldeman is among the very best science fiction authors ever and this book
Joe Haldeman is among the very best science fiction authors ever and this book, the second in the Worlds trilogy, is one of my favorite reads. I do disagree with a few of the science things, mostly the treatment of the viral disease in the story, but overall this is a great book, with great characterization, a well done plot, and lots of suspense and action.
