Good product for the money
I ordered this for a gift for a relative who lives several hours away. After reading reviews on many windmills, none seemed to be guaranteed to not need some TLC out of the box, including the more expensive ones. So, I had this delivered to my house so I could fix any issues prior to gifting it. It arrived in better condition than I expected, and seemed fairly well made. Yes, there are staples, but also quite a few screws. One piece was cracked, which I glued back together.Since I would not have opportunity to perform yearly maintenence, I decided to try a couple coats of marine epoxy to help stabilize the wood, followed by spar varnish for UV protection--a process used on wooden boats. The epoxy should also help hold the pieces together. Prior to finishing, I added some wood burning artwork. The finished product seemed sturdy with more weight than what the same build from red cedar would be. Didn't try to have the blades turn because of where the artwork was.So, bottom line, it was not as good as if I had started from scratch, but well worth the savings in time and material expense. There don't seem to be any good options for wooden windmills that are perfect out of the box and which don't require regular maintenence. But this was much less expensive and likely would have lasted awhile even without the extra steps.

Light-weight windmill
The windmill I bought arrived quickly and safely and looked like the picture of what I was buying. That's the good news. The bad news is that it is a flimsy product, made in China of inexpensive wood, mostly stapled together in such a way that it will almost certainly fall apart fairly quickly. Painting it might help preserve it, but the staples will almost certainly rust quickly. The wood doesn't look like it will last. I chose to give it a number of coats of wood preservative. Just turning it to coat it, I had to be careful parts like the roof didn't pull off. Truly, for the price, this should be a more solid and long-lasting item. I doubt I would recommend it to anyone else. Time will tell. We'll see how long before it deteriorates.

Not perfect but not bad either
It's not perfect but it is made fairly decent for the money. We tried putting washers around the blades but they still will not turn freely in the wind, we had to force them to spin. We purchased this to cover a well pipe and it would not fit without building up the base with stones. The windmill is held together with some kind of staples, so it remains to be seen how well this holds up in the weather. We also tried staining it with high quality deck stain, but for some reason it did not take the stain well.

You get what you pay for. This product is poorly made. The corners don't even come together correctly thereby making it not square. I put an ample supply of paint and preservative on it and it looks pretty. we live on a lake so I was looking forward to watching the blades spin. I bought the washers as suggested. The blades spin but then they stop after the screw that holds it on gets tightened. So you have to keep going out and loosening the screw. Very disappointing. I'm trying to figure out if I can change the shaft to make it spin all the time.

Nice Windmill
This windmill arrived packaged very well and protected in a heavy cardboard box so there were no broken parts. It's solid, sturdy, well made and the natural wood will weather nicely. If you want the blades to turn, the following worked for us. You'll need two washers, which are NOT included, but easy to buy (we had them on our workbench). Put the first washer on the threaded metal peg; push the blade assembly on; put the second washer on and then hand tighten the wooden knob. Voila! Blades that turn in the wind.

I am very happy with the quality of this Windmill
I am very happy with the quality of this Windmill. I am glad that I spent the extra money with this purchase, then they cheaper one that is being sold here on Amazon. It is exactly as pictured, with a much better quality of wood. I haven't put it outside yet, to see how it weathers, but, I am sure it will stand up to the weather, with no problems. It is a bit smaller. then I thought it would be, but, I don't mind that at all.

Decorative windmill
The light wood is pretty, it took a good coat of Thompson's water seal and looks very nice now. Upon opening the box, there were several "staples" that were coming out of the wood frame, some on the top and a few on the bottom. I had to "stick" them back in but would recommend you put wood glue on the little staples, then put them back in place. These staples are in the place of nails. Being that this product is made in China, I didnt' expect very much quality at all and that there isn't. But it does look pretty sturdy, I am going to re-inforce underneath with some pieces 2x4 so I can weight it down on the ground.

Don't Waste Your Money
Our third windmill and this was definitely the worst as far as quality and finish. There are no bearings in the wind vanes and when the wood swells, they barely turn. It came with no varnish and the wood had to be coated with spar varnish by my wife which took a long time. Previous models were already varnished and were built better (were USA models and NOT Chinese like this was). Do not recommend it.
