It took 2-3 years to be delivered but well worth the wait. Grandson loved it! I would definitely recommend if your a bookworm like me lol. 5 STARS 🤩

beautifully old fashioned drama not tampered with by politically correct nonsense. A delight to share with grandchildren as once did with children

This series is totally and completely fantastic in so many ways .The stories will live for children for ever and ever as one says .The physical presentation in as magical as the stories and it so marvellous to see these timeless stories renewed once agian for the new generations to enjoy as much as we did when we were children.Timeless Wonders !

Having bought this story as reproduction and others i had in my childhood as 2nd hand, I would now go for 2nd hand version every time despite being more expensive and not new. Can't quite put my finger on it but pictures somehow not as crisp in reproduction and I personally prefer board cover to dust-jacket as this is what my books had as a child. This is still good alternative just not quite the same as the real thing

Rapunzel to read to the grandchrildren they loved it

Great Kids book, product arrived promptly and without damage. Ladybird books havent changed since I was a child, that was good to see. The smell, the font used in the book brought back so many memories. Hopefully this will create some for my child too.Recommended :)

Beautifully illustrated. Hardcover, my niece is a big fan and she loved it.

序に「Drawing on elements from early French and Italian sources」とあるとおり、イタリア・ルネッサンスを思わせる絵画的・デザイン的要素を全面に盛り込んだ、愛らしいというよりは、美しい絵本となっています。（フランス的要素についてはよく知りませんが...）例えば、ラプンツェルの住む塔は、表紙にみられる通り、イタリア・ルネッサンスの教会・礼拝堂のデザイン風です。荒野の描き方も自然科学的ではなく、初期〜中期ルネッサンスの様式的な描き方でしょう。服飾も、おそらくルネッサンス的だと思いますが、もっと端的に、ロミオとジュリエット風と言った方がより良いかもしれません。最後のページは、ラファエロの「聖母子」的な構図で締めくられています。もっとも、ルネッサンスと一口に言っても、ラファエロ風のエレガンスや、ミケランジェロ風の肉体のダイナミクスや、ベネチア絵画風の光と色のニュアンスではなく、例えばマンテーニャを想起させるタイプの絵です。文章は、原作のグリムの短い話から、さらに簡約しており、英文も平易で、すぐ読めてしまいました。アメリカやイギリスの外国のアマゾンでは、送料はかかりますが、新品が手に入るかもしれません。※ ちなみに、ラプンツェルという植物が何を指すのかは、よくわかっていないようですね...

I'm amazed by Zelinsky's gift at art! The tower (that tall, slender thing doesn't look very believable to me) doesn't really impress me, but that's just a minor complaint that I have (aside from that Rapunzel and her prince could have gotten to know each other before the marriage).This book shows the two sides of Rapunzel's adoptive mother well. You can see the love for her "daughter" in one picture and then the anger of a demon as catches Rapunzel's biological father stealing more of her plants and as she learns of Rapunzel's relationship with the prince. The fact that Rapunzel was given away by her pregnancy is much more realistic than by a moment of forgetfulness; she'd know better than to do that with the sorceress around.The prince and Rapunzel actually look quite natural and beautiful (the Renaissance setting suits them), much better looking than the rather fluffy and overdone Barbie and Ken version. Fairy tale heroes and heroines too often seem to be modeled after Ken and Barbie. Zelinsky's representation of them is quite refreshing; not these stiff cardboard-cutout stock characters, but showing much more personality than usual. To me, it's very reminiscent of the Leonard Whitting/Olivia Hussey version of Romeo and Juliette.And what hair Rapunzel has! Wonderfully thick! It's beautifully painted and colored! Red-gold looks better for Rapunzel to me than Barbie's tow-colored "hair".And Rapunzel's cat in the background is rather nice touch (being a cat-lover, myself).Paul Zelinsky can't cease to amaze me with his artwork. And he's totally humanized the story! The characters have more depth and personality than they are usually portrayed having. The text and images he uses to do so are simply exquisite. Aside from his gift at art, he also knows how to use words. A commendable gift.
