Enjoyable and entertaining, with a strong male lead
Lily Redman is a chef, and also does TV. She is currently working on confirming the line up of Celebrity Chef Swap, a programme where chefs will swap kitchens. She is going to make this an international show and comes to the UK to try and convince some people to take part. She is also trying to get away from her ex manager and fiancee Patrick.Lily arrives and heads to Cornwall, where she then decides she will need a driver to get her around not only Cornwall but also the rest of the UK as she has a lot to fit in, in a short space of time. Betty, the woman she is staying with, recommends Kenan Rowse for the job.Kenan is an ex-soldier, having served in Afghanistan, but is now back and looking for work. He agrees to be Lily's driver, but the job is a lot more than he bargained for. There is a simmering attraction between the pair the whole time, despite them being complete opposites. He is the strong, silent type and Lily loves to talk. Lily is also a complete foodie and Kenan just sees it as fuel, which is a perception Lily is determined to change. At the base of his book there is a story about food and about love. The food descriptions are nice, but didn't really make me too hungry, but everything else I thought was really good. There are lovely descriptions of Cornish farms and cooking, including the Cornish Pasty! Both Lily and Kenan's exes appear, mainly to cause trouble, and to add to the drama of the book, as well as the will they get together or not vibe.I found this to be a largely enjoyable book, full of some incredibly sweet moments, and I think I fell just a little bit in love with Kenan.

A great summer read!
This is the first book I have read of Angela Britnell's and it won't be the last. Sugar and Spice is a fun read with more layers than a layer cake. You can tell I am no baker, unlike Lily! Lily, on the surface is a shallow, pink loving, stiletto wearing 'stereotypical girly girl', but we find that just under the skin she is a far more complex and caring character. Kenan is more straightforward and is like chalk to Lily's cheese ... in the beginning at least. He turns out to be just what Lily needs, but does the course of tru love run smoothly? You will have to read this book to find out. Oh, and his daughter Mandy is delightful, but then she would be with a name like that ... A great feel good book!

A sugary American and spicy Cornishman in an unlikely romance!
A sugary American and spicy Cornishman in an unlikely romance! This is another of Angela Britnell's excellent romances which has many setbacks and problems along the way especially when both "ex"s get involved...... I enjoyed this Choc Lit romance because it had touches of humour and left me with a warm feeling which all good novels should. Well worth reading!

Oo I do love a damaged solider hero...
Oo I do love a damaged solider hero so Kenan is right up my street as the romantic hero - plus I love Cornwall as a setting...and then there is all the stuff about food, my other favourite thing. This was a thoroughly enjoyable read from Angela Britnell. One for curling up with on a rainy day - like this one.

Choc-lit has come through again. I love these books. Angela Britnell has a great way of letting it get just so far.....and then reeling you in. Thank you.

Will they... won't they... in CORNWALL
3.5*Lily is a brash American from Nashville, preparing a celebrity cooking show. She descends on Cornwall and will be touring the county for culinary inspiration. However, she is not keen to drive on a different side of the road, so she needs a driver. Her landlady sets her up with Kenan. He is a stoic man, not one for conversation, who has seen service in Afghanistan and naturally has experience a lot during his tours. PTSD has been looming large…From the off there is a simmering connection between the two and by p27 he is already stroking her cheek and her senses went into overdrive! Whoah, forward or what! Still, we know what’s likely to be around the corner!Anyway, it’s off on their tour of Cornwall, just the two of them. Their odyssey is punctuated by the shenanigans of their respective ex partners and byhis concerns around his family. This wobbles the bubble of their potentially steamy co-existence and the ‘will they / won’t they’ is, essentially, at the heart of the novel. The food angle is of course central but it was a missed opportunity! I was waiting to really jump in enjoy the food but it felt a little half hearted.Basically, think of The Bodyguard series on TV, Kenan SO could be Richard Madden’s character in that series. A nice light read with a backdrop of Cornwall.
