Easy fix with an extra layer of safety.
These are great little gadgets that add extra security, especially great to have if you have young children. I have been using them for almost four years, installed the once our pool was completed. It makes me feel a bit safer myself, but gives me great comfort knowing my young grandchildren cannot open the doors and get to the pool without me knowing.

Install upside down!
I didn't buy these for a long time, because I worried that whenever it fails the flapper will fall straight down and is a security/safety risk. But I used one that was installed upside down and I had to buy them. If the flapper fails it will fail to the locked position (unless there's a serious trauma that destroys the whole hinge). This is good for most people unless they need to guarantee that the door is unlocked and have no other access. Also, I can easily open and close this with my left pinky. Or if I just don't slam it, it opens and closes silently. I tried the kind that's like a 2x2" square and you have to squeeze the top and bottom and then pull the whole thing out. It required 2 hands or 3 awkward fingers, and was loud, with a click when opening and closing-just a minor annoyance. That one was also bigger and more noticeable. I've also tried the kind that's like 1x2" and the inner rectangle pulls out at an angle to lock in. It's hard to explain, but either way, Ive tried three different locks and this is the best by far. And it's clear so we barely notice it.

A Secure piece of mind
This little helps me sleep better at night. I have on my patio doors and it works to keep me safe. Very easy to put on, just make sure it exactly where you want it because it adheres very quickly.

They don’t stay.
Horrible. I’ve already tried two of the bars on a clean dry door and they have fallen off within two days.

Use in temperature controlled locations
We got these for 1st floor windows and sliding doors. The ones on the sliding doors were in a not temperature controlled full-sun location, so the glue detached in the heat of the summer sun. Also the glass is old enough to not be the double pained insulated doors. Had to go back to a stick in the track for security. Otherwise they work amazing in shaded or temperature controlled areas or double pained windows with the gas insulation between. The clear color gives a less obvious look to the windows making visibility a non-issue. And fit just right for opening windows and doors when disengaged.

Easy to use and sturdy! Lasts forever!
I had these installed for ages on the windows of a sun room we own. My parents installed them 20 plus years earlier and they existed without ever moving, breaking or falling off. I got the windows professionally tinted and unfortunately they had to be removed (I can assure you the adhesive was still fine after all these years because of the aggravated grunts of the installer as he tried to remove them). I was happy to see them for sale on Amazon. Installation is easy as heck and they look and feel just like the older ones. Great product that I can highly recommend!

Do NOT buy. Waste of money
I purchased this item about 3 weeks ago. All four of them fell off my window — every single one.
