Vietnam veteran Thomas Magnum (Tom Selleck) leaves the Navy to take up position as a private eye and security advisor to famous author Robin Masters in the cultural melting pot of 1980's Oahu, Hawaii. He is soon living the high life with Master's beachfront mansion and Ferrari, but soon the idyll is not all it seems and Magnum is drawn into the island's underworld. An impressive 130 hours of television across 157 episodes over 8 seasons of groundbreaking and unconventional storytelling, join Magnum for a thrill ride of explosive action and frantic chases in the unforgettable Emmy (r) Award and Golden Globe (r) winning series, now available fully restored and in high definition for the first time. Review: Good quality overall. - Some other reviewer left a bad review and complained of excessive noise in indoor scenes. I went to the exact moment they took a screen shot and it looked a lot better on my TV. I wonder if they had their contrast or sharpness turned up all the way like some people do because they think it makes things more "HiDef." Oh and I always disable noise reduction and other filters on my TV and players so yeah. Yes, the indoor scenes have some grain, some scenes more than others but really it is no worse than any other HD transfer of television from this era. Even big budget blockbusters viewed in the cinema back in the day had visible grain, especially indoors. They also said the DVD looked better. I'm sorry but that's just ridiculous. The DVD release of this show was of very poor quality, the colours and brightness were terrible. It was incredibly bland and dark. This is so much an improvement over the DVD that it boggles my mind that someone would say something like that. Take a look at any outdoor scene and it looks fantastic. It's bright, vibrant, colourful and sharp. The exact opposite of the DVD. I would definitely recommend this, it's a good boxset overall and way better than the DVDs. Review: OH MY GOD!!!!! I JUST LOVE HIGGYBABY - Magnum pi 🕵️♀️ Is one of my favourite tv series of all time. I already have the whole series 1-8 on dvd which I’ve watched many many times. There are some shows that come along that you can watch time and again and this is definitely at least for me one of them. So when I seen it on blu ray I didn’t have to think twice about getting it. £116 was a pittance to pay for this on blu ray. When it arrived the first thing I did was put the first disc in the player of my old set just to get a comparison watched it for 10 mins and to be fair the picture wasn’t that bad. Next came the new disc. The first thing I noticed was the music on the new disc it sounded very tiny but seemed to go fine after just a couple of minutes. Now for the clean up. Is it worth £116 if you already have them on dvd and the picture isn’t that bad? Well the clean up is not spectacular by any means but what you have to remember is this series is about 35 years old so it’s not going to be spectacular and if you are expecting that my advice is don’t waste your money. But for me someone who loves the series and will watch it time and again it is very much worth it. The clean up is better of course it’s better there are afew things I’ve noticed that are much better. Like the black is now black and not gray. It still has grain in them but lots of it has been taken away. Just to note mine came in 8 ordinary size dvd boxes with 4 dvds in each which was a massive bonus because I hate them big boxes that hold loads of dvds the boxes hold 4 and they are very strong. It’s a really well put together set. The question is is it worth £116?? YOUR DEAD RIGHT ITS WORTH IT. ITS MAGNUM P.I.

Magnum PI Blu-ray
The Blu-ray series of Magnum PI has exceeded my expectations. On numerous web postings, I had read complaints concerning film grain on the Blu-ray images. Those makings the complaints simply did not understand, that when filmed in the 1980s, the best quality period film had in fact grain. I am old enough to remember the original broadcast networks images, and the images from Fabulous are far superior to those of the original broadcast. I was surprised by the detailed images, being able to read fine image details, such as the numbers and letters of period rotary dial telephones, analog watch faces, etc. Additionally, the quality of the audio Blu-ray component is excellent. The music, actor conversations, and other sound effects are very clear, again being superior to the original broadcast. North American buyers should note, that this series is a ZONE B item, requiring a ZONE B, or ZONE Free Blu-ray player. This is an excellent product!

Yep worth it
well the wife was going home for vacation for 3 weeks, i booked off a week just to fix up some things around the house (yeah right) i had bought some coconut cream, pineapple juice, white rum and a whole lotta ice, what else can a red blooded man enjoy more then sipping some pina coladas on a tuesday afternoon other then doing it while watching Magnum PI in vibrant/flawless HD. Its been on my wish list for a long time and yea i no your gonna ask yourself is it really worth it? sure bills need to be paid but sometime a man needs to treat himself and trust me this is definitely worth it. by the way it was a coin toss between this and The A Team Blu ray collection which i already own on dvd but i know i made the right choice.

Great Release
This is my second purchase of a complete boxset of a cult TV show from the 1980s after Miami Vice, which incidentally, has also been issued by Fabulous. As a result, my comments are very similar, i.e. we are lucky in the first place to have such vintage material released in HD, with an image quality which, in many instances, is strikingly superior when compared to the standard DVDs. Just like MV, it's too bad no subtitles have been included (hence 4 stars instead of 5). About the show itself? Well, you are either a fan or you are not. Me, I will only say "OH MY GOD!"

Love Magnum!
No need to comment on the show. If you buy it, you love this 80s show. I bought it in DVD format but then, when the Blu-ray came out, I did the upgrade. Quality is stunning, you can see the small damage on the Ferrari bumpers... the format is 4:3 like the original and on my TV does not stretch in 16:9 like the normal DVD series but not a big deal. Very very happy. Menus are different: gone are the one-liners for each episode with description and date of first broadcast. But you can get that on Wikipedia. Recommending 150%

Magnum never looked so good!
One great show beautifully remastered! Hawaii always looks better in HD! The low light screens, do tend to show a little graininess, and this box set does not contain the Simon & Simon crossover episode.

**This is a region B Bluray and will not play in standard U.S. Bluray players*** Having said that, this set is pretty impressive. For a product of the 80's, the transfer to bluray looks great, and the colors are vibrant. I am into season two and have had no problems with the disc's. The sound quality is also above par, with no anomalies. As far as I can tell, there is no subtitles, which is unfortunate, but not unexpected. The price I paid was cheaper than some t.v. box sets I have purchased in the past. The only real con, is the time it took to arrive, however, considering it shipped from he UK, its not a con at all. If you are a Magnum PI fan, and have the means to bypass the region lock, this is a great set if you can get it on sale.
