Buffet story telling at his best
Excellent book, I had read it several years ago and getting older it was like ready for the first time. Not as well known as an author, Jimmy’s story telling is as enjoyable as the many songs he was written. Thoroughly enjoyable read

Learn More Facts of the Inspiring Great Man
Not a Parrot Head but a huge fan of Jimmy's. I read "Jimmy Buffett, A Good Life All the Way" which I HIGHLY recommend two months prior to his death and bought this book to read even though not available in Kindle, my strong preference of reading material. I'm glad I finally committed to the read even though it's not the best. Buffett was a unique man not really recognized for his intelligence and love of books as much as he should have been. "A Pirate at 50" finds Jimmy at a crossroads of not knowing what book to write next with a little bit of writer's block so why not a "two for one": a travelogue of a unique vacation trip through Central America, some islands and a trip to the interior Amazon. Well, not what a lot of people do over their Xmas vacation and this is when his younger kids were around 3 and 5. Of course traveling "Jimmy-style" is not normal. Have to have a few friends/workers along to help with the kids and enhance the "fishing fun" and don't we all take two different planes on vacation, the amphibious as well as a Citation jet? And don't get confused, the amphibian is not a normal plane. Consider it more like an old, noisy WWII plane and of course Jimmy takes his young son with him in that plane. Just comedy traveling. But where this book really scores is the tidbits where you see behind the curtain. Actually in one of the early chapters Jimmy takes two pages and summarizes his life: when he divorced, when he had kids, when they got back together, when he lived in Key West, etc. The book was worth it just for this summary as I'm most intrigued now by his wonderful love story with Jane which has the long separation that is never explained. I wish Jane would give her side of their fascinating lives together but I doubt we ever see that. So, it's a five hour visit with Jimmy. that's enough for me. Travelogue not as big a hit with me. Finding facts of Jimmy, well worth my time.

Jimmy Buffet Classic
Classic Jimmy Buffet. Celebrating his 50th birthday by taking family and friends on a trip around the Caribbean. Great travel and lyric tidbits. A national treasure that is so greatly missed!
