This item is very warm. Covers head and neck. I use backpacking with a quilt sleeping in cold conditions.

The hood is very warm. A little big for me so it moves around on my head in the wind. I might add a clip or cord to hold it down to my collar. I was hoping it wouldn’t be shiny black but it is. Not a big deal.

Good value for the price.. though fit is slightly odd.

This down hood is amazing. Like wearing a furnace on the head. Instantly brought warmth. I use it for walking outdoors in below zero temps. The only slight problem is that it is so fluffy it becomes difficult to see where I am going.

Bought for my second year on the AT since I froze my first year. Very lightweight, very compressible, and very warm. Bought and worn only to sleep in on cold nights and it suited my needs perfectly.

When I got it I washed it with DownWash, dried it and slept in the hammock that night. Low was 31°f. I use a top quilt and my head gets cold even in a merino balaclava. I usually have a hooded puffy that I wear or drape over me. I slept better than ever with this down hood on my head. I did not wear the puffy and did not end up with my head down in the quilt. It was perfectly warm at 31°f. The interior fabric is super soft and comfy. This is one of the best purchases I have made in a while. I feel that I got a great bang for the buck.Highly recommended.

I wore this once and it was too hot for the weather. I thought i was going to see below freezing and this would have been nice for that but is really too warm for above freezing weather. Basically that is a good thing given its weight and compactness. I will bring this with me soon to the mountains where I hope to put it to good use.Update: After several years I haven't used it much because it is just too warm for temps above freezing and just recently I found it too hot when wearing it in single digits, but it is nice for sleeping in when it is near 0°f and more comfy than the restrictive mummy bag hood. I would still buy this again for the price and performance. i just need some matching pants for this thing.

A good addition to the winter kit.

The hood is warm. It is very soft and floppy which makes it difficult to enjoy using. If the opening could be given a shape so that it stayed like that it would be much better. It is just exactly like it is shown in the photo on Amazon.,

Hood didn't fit. It is made of cheap, shiny material. Seller makes you pay for returns. It is $25 to return a tiny, almost weightless item with Canada Post. This is 40% of the purchase price.

Used with winter down quilt for backpacking, plenty of head room , very light but very warm, well made piece of kit , can’t go wrong
