Pennington The Rebels Tall Fescue Shady Grass Seed Mix 20 lb

Planted under dense tree cover. It came up slow, but filling in quick. I was surprised because the area gets very little sun light.

I couldn’t be happier with this grass seed! I used it to patch up some bare spots in my yard, and within just a couple of weeks, I saw thick, green growth. The grass is vibrant, soft, and blends in perfectly with the existing lawn. It germinated quickly, even in areas that don’t get a ton of sun. I followed the watering instructions closely, and the results really speak for themselves. Great value and amazing quality—I’ll definitely be buying more for future touch-ups!

I purchased this product to patch my backyard lawn. When I received the product, I found out that this product is only 50% actual seeds(half the weight). The balance is the coating I assume. No where in the Amazon description shows the contents, unless I missed it somewhere. This product is similar to the Scotts products I believe and my intention was to avoid that type. Unfortunately, I needed it asap and used it before the timely rain that afternoon. In addition, I ended up buying additional seed at my local landscaping store which was cheaper since I was buying 100% seed per pound. I wish I would have just sent it back. We’ll see how it germinates.

Don't waste your money and time with this seed. I used it to patch a few bare spots, pre-germenated it, planted it just as your supposed to, watered it every day. It came up quick, thick, and green, but after 3 weeks it all just died. I have planted Kentucky 31 fescue with no issues. But this stuff is total crap. Rye grass would have lasted longer than this. I'll never use Pennington producs again.

It's decent grass. If you doing a new lawn, and want nice thick grass, you need to use ten times the amount of seed suggested for over seeding. Remember, this is Fescue, one seed = one blade of grass, it doesn't spread at all. I know that sounds ridiculous, but it is realistic. Don't plant it all at once, stagger it a bit. If you want to grow grass well , here's what you have to do. 1) Till up the dirt to at least 4 inches. 2) level out the dirt as well as possible. 3) fertilize 4) spread the seed. 5 cover it with straw, this is crucial. 6) water daily, you want it really wet but no puddles. The temperature needs to be over 60F. If you do those steps, your grass will be amazing, if you skip steps, it won't be amazing

Seemed to come up well, but did not do well in the areas that got more sun than the shady area. Guess 2 hours of sun means "Only" 2 hrs of sun??

Grass terminated quickly and grew well. Filled in the shady area under the tree and now it looks very full and lush. Very happy with this product. I highly recommend!

Great last spring. Best grass on my street. Just did fall seeding in difficult areas with lots of traffic and little sun
