Best price
I have a 250 square foot green house and make my own potting soil. This product is the best price and works very well. I always keep an extra bag on hand. They shipped it in only 2 days. Arrived in great condition

Until Now Hated Perlite
Truly large pebbles, not crumbly.I have always hated perlite. Hated how it would rise to the surface and distract me from the plants. So white and obnoxious. I hated how it scraped my skin. I worried about breathing it in. Just all around strong yuk!But more recently I wanted to grow vegetables on my roof and I didn't imagine a better product to ensure drainage and light weight for my design. This Perlite has opened a new chapter in my feeling towards perlite. It made my project work. And there were no creepy sharp crumbs. Just nicely rounded and light weight pebbles.Expensive. But I don't regret my purchase.

Great for Citrus and Cacti
I needed a coarser perlite than what I could find locally for repotting my very large, decades-old barrel cacti. The largest is in a 24" inch diameter bowl pot. I was happy to find this huge bag on Amazon. Wasn't crazy about the price being close to $40 for the bag, but I figured it would last me awhile. In the end I used up almost half the bag for not only my three large barrel cacti, but several of my other cacti plants large and small that needed repotting, with plenty left for other projects. Most of it in the bag is I would say the advertised size; nice and coarse. Obviously there will be smaller bits and dust because of moving, packing and shipping around of the product. It was great to mix into potting mix with coarse sand and chunks of hard clay, to lighten and aerate the soil for the cacti as they need as porous and free-draining of soil as possible. Even if their mix saturates from rain, it doesn't hold onto the moisture too long thanks to about 50% of their soil being this coarse perlite. If I had to order this again I think I would and about the right size. It's also been good adding to potting mix for starting seedlings and repotting house plants.

Good enough
When I saw the photos of the perlite I thought it was mostly course pieces like in the photos. It has a mixture but mostly smaller pieces of perlite. Of course there is a lot, There is a lot of perlite dust, which can't be helped. The overall price is great for this huge bag. It's clean and odor free. I will definitely buy more until a larger size #3 or #4 perlite brand returns to Amazon.

Good perlite, plants seem to like it. Use a dust mask when handling it!
The bag is huge but it's relatively light, as expected from perlite. A scoop of it weighs almost nothing, I mix it with my potting soil in about 60% soil to 40% perlite and my plants seem to like it so far. A word of caution: when opening the bag or just manipulating the beads, do it either in an open area with LOTS of ventilation (outside in the garden works for me) or wear some kind of dust mask/ respirator, because perlite is DUSTY. The particles are so light they disperse in the air immediately and trust me, you don't want any of this stuff sitting in your lungs.
