LOVE this bed!!
I purchased this bed for my 6 year old 55 lb lab/shepherd mix (that's our best guess as to what she is!) after MUCH shopping around. For about a year I went back and forth about purchasing a bed from a retailer that makes very expensive memory foam beds. The beds I considered buying from them were well over $200 (some were $300) and were only 3 or 4" high. While their reviews are very strong, I wasn't sure I wanted to spend that much money, and so I kept putting it off. I also wasn't sure that 3-4" high was enough support. One day I came across the Big Barker beds on Amazon. I read the reviews, visited their website, and instantly I was sold-- I purchased the bed the very same day. The thickness and quality of the foam can't be beat-- where else can you find a bed that is 7" deep? With foam made in the USA? I didn't want my baby sleeping on a bed full of chemicals, so when I read that their foam is USA made and much higher quality than that which is mass produced overseas, I knew this was the right bed for us. Further, the whole product is made in the USA, and this purchase supports smaller businesses. Not to mention there is a 10 year guarantee! When it arrived it took about a day to fully plump up, but my dog slept on it that night. The size is perfect for her, she can stretch out, curl up, whatever. We have had it about 2 weeks and she has gotten used to it (she used to sleep in bed with us because our old bed for her was so terrible--so the full transition to the bed took a few days), and I am so happy she has such a comfortable, supportive bed. I worried about her joints as she is getting older, and I wanted the best therapeutic bed I could find for her. I am pretty sure this is it! When she lays on it, it does NOT sink in--she is fully supported. It's amazing. My cat even loves it--she sleeps in the bed when my dog isn't using it. While I haven't had to wash the cover yet, it seems like it will be easy to wash. It is very soft and a really nice fabric. All in all I am VERY pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for the best bed they can find for their best friend. I couldn't be happier with this purchase--after all of the shopping around I did I am convinced this is the best bed for the money (and honestly, the price is pretty reasonable given the quality of this bed!). Thank you Big Barker :)

The Perfect Dog Bed
This is the bed my wife and I chose after an extensive search for a new bed for our 8-year-old German Shepherd. Having a 70 - 80 lb. dog that frequently gets up during the night due to arthritis, we needed to find a very comfortable, supportive bed. We had tried various other beds in prior years, discovering that they were either too thin to provide support, or that the foam degraded after a few months of (even light) use; at this point, we knew that a thick, high-quality foam would be the best long-term route. This dog bed is absolutely fantastic: the foam is supportive, comfortable, and resilient. As always, our dog was leery of a new bed, but after a little coaxing she tried it and was quickly comfortable and asleep. Each night since it arrived, we've noticed that she sleeps longer and more comfortably, pacing less and less, preferring her bed over the couch (which is also fine, but not ideal for her). We've also noticed her arthritis symptoms diminish, as evidenced by additional energy and bouncing at the dog parks. This was well worth the expenditure and will repay us not only by obviating replacements, but by improving the quality (and duration) of life of our dog. In contrast to other dog beds we've purchased, this foam is clearly a top-grade product. It is noticeably more resilient than the foam used in most other dog beds we've examined and easily meets - if not exceeds - the manufacturer claims. The cover is also quite impressive and does, indeed, protect the foam nicely and simplify cleaning. Aside from the unusually high quality of the bed, the manufacturer stands out as being uniquely committed to their product. After ordering, I received an e-mail explaining how the bed was packaged and what to expect as it re-expanded (it is compressed for shipping). This e-mail also contained cleaning instructions, support numbers, and a clear explanation of the extensive, long-term warranty. The contents of the e-mail were also provided as well-organized documentation with the bed itself. Notably, all communication and documentation are in clear, proper English, not some outsourced, cobbled-together translation. The quality of this product - and the manufacturer - stands out in all aspects, making this one of my favorite purchases, and one that reflects the adage "you get what you pay for."

Worth evry penny!
This is the 2nd "Big Barker" we've purchased in the past year for our 12yr old 114lb male Husky mix. I initially purchased the large lounger for our bedroom (that's where he sleeps @ night.) Being a large breed we've always invested in higher quality orthopedic beds due to potential of arthritis & hip dysplasia. I researched all the top brands & after reading reviews I watched the heat sensor pressure video on this bed & I was sold! Our fur-baby loves his bed so much, we decided to purchase this one for our family room. I went with "Jumbo" this time simply because we had room for it's size. I'm not even joking, this bed is so big my husband & I can actually lay comfortably on the bed with him! He LOVES that & so do we! These beds are WONDERFUL!!! They are super easy to keep clean (I run my lightweight sweeper right over the beds to remove fur on a daily basis.) The liners & covers wash so nicely & they are so easy to remove & put back on (a HUGE bonus for me!) I have struggled with other brands (pulling & tugging, ripping & tearing my nails) but that's not the case with these. It almost seems like they are a little bigger than the beds but more importantly they have some give & that makes all the difference in the world! No more sweating (literally) to get them back on. I do feel it's worth mentioning... Our large breed double coated fur-kid did get too hot & moved onto the floor a few times right after we got his 1st bed. That "Really" bothered me, I hate the idea of him sleeping on hard wood floors. I considered buying a cooling pad but I was too worried after reviewing them & learning it's possible they can leak potentially toxic gel, so I bought a tower fan instead. I placed it near his bed & use it during summer months & it works perfectly, he's never gotten off his bed since. I am reviewing this bed because I rely on reviews so much when making online purchases. I give this bed the HIGHEST rating possible because it absolutely deserves it! We've purchased more than a few beds over the past several years & thought they were really nice, high quality beds... But I'm telling you NONE of them have come close to Big Barker! These beds do not smash, flatten or break down like other brands we've owned (in fact his 1st bed looks exactly the same as it did the day it arrived!) I know this brand may seem pricey but believe me when I say you get what you pay for with Big Barker! I whole hardheartedly recommend these beds to everyone considering them!!! You won't be disappointed!

BUY IT ... YOU WON'T REGRET IT!!
OVERALL QUALITY: My 105lb Rottweiler has flattened all the standard "dog beds" we have purchased him. Not this one. This mattress is so amazingly strong that it barely budges against all 105lbs. That's impressive. Its firm, yet soft at the same time and appears to provide just enough support! The cover is very high quality material - not flimsy. It stays surprisingly COOL under him too, which is important because of his double-coat - Maximus tends to run hot. I cannot emphasize how impressive the overall quality of this product is! Even the zipper is top quality. I have two family members who have seen this bed and have already commited to buying it for their own fur baby. All someone has to do is SEE this bed and they're instantly sold - its that good. WARRANTY: The warranty is ridiculous! Who gives a 10 year warranty? A company that is 100% confident their product is top of the line. SLEEPING LIKE A BABY: Maximus is very particular ... about almost everything. I thought it would take him days, weeks even to accept the bed. Wrong! It took him about 5 minutes to love the bed, the time it took for him to sniff it out completely. Tip: Wash the cover in cold water with fragrance free detergent and no softeners of any kind. I dried it for 5 min. on low heat and then hung it on the clothes line until dry and fresh. I did not have to train him at all, bribe him or even lay on it with him. THE VALUE: Yes its a lot of $$. But worth every cent. Add up every cheap bed you've ever bought and will buy for your pet and it will probably be more than the purchase of Big Barker. Its an investment for drama-free sleep AND the health of your pet. My boy has moderate hip displaysia and this will help him tremendously. Lastly ... ITS MADE IN THE U.S.A.!! Well, that explains the quality, because I couldn't get this from an item made overseas or across the border. Buy the bed ... you wont' regret it.

Worth Every Penny
This has to be the best bed for dogs I have come across and I've worked in pet health, I film with dogs, and I volunteer with dogs. It's not a typical "dog bed" because it feels like the same orthopedic human bed I have. It's a lot more comfortable than many human beds too! I was a little tentative to buy this bed because I've purchased many high end dog beds before and they're all pretty similar, just different bells and whistles. This bed surprised me because it appears larger than the dimensions listed, takes a full day to expand, and the foam is legit. I can fit on this bed and both my dogs (each about 70 lbs) can fit on it too. My dogs love the bed (I will have to buy another) and I noticed better sleeping, improved mobility after use, and it isn't hard for my dog with arthritis to get up on or down from. I know this bed is on the expensive side, however it's better than buying a new bed all the time. This is an investment. The only thing I would add is a Big Barker human bed to attach next to this one. Every doctor and veterinarian has told me that good sleep is key for health and healing. I see this bed as a health investment. I highly recommend it. I didn't rate for "Easy to Clean" or "Water Resistant" because there is an option to buy a cover (you can probably use a cover if you have one), Big Barker mentions protecting the investment, and in general I would say think of it like your own bed. You probably know if you eat in bed it will be harder to clean than eating at a table.

An excellent bed but...............
Well made and definitely a comfy bed for large dogs. We have a smaller 170 lb. English Mastiff and he fits this bed perfectly. A 200 lb. Mastiff isn't unusual and I don't believe a Mastiff that size would fit. Our last Mastiff was 202 lbs. and wouldn't have fit on this bed even though this is the largest bed I've tried. This bed is well suited for 170 lb. and under Mastiffs. Being a bit on the soft side Hercules had a bit of trouble learning to walk onto it. At 8 years old he has slight hip problems plus muscle tissue damage on one hind leg due to a cancer tumor. He avoided this bed after a few tries but learned to get onto it when we got our Mastiff pup. Yep, the pup loves this bed and Hercules decided it was now his bed. Fortunately he shares. Our other dog bed is 2" shorter and the same width with but poor padding. Having a 3" depth there isn't much I can do to make it better. This bed was too small for our 202 lb. Mastiff but the depth made it useful. Our pup will more than likely be much larger than Hercules. At 4 and 1/2 months she's much larger than the average Mastiff pup her age, both male and female. Her lineage should prove this also. I gave this bed 4 stars hoping that people would read it. I felt it necessary to alert other Mastiff owners of the size limit for their dogs. Most other breeds will no doubt be fine. Breeds that are large with long legs may or may not have problems but it's better for me to leave it up to them to decide.

Best dog bed you will ever buy
This is our fourth Big Barker bed. I bought our first one around 2007 for our 14 year old Shepherd mix. He was having trouble getting up and down, especially coming back to bed in the middle of the night after he went outside to pee. I noticed that his bed would squish to the floor when he dropped down hard and knew I had to find something better for him. Somehow I found Big B. It really did make a difference: when his back end gave out and he dropped, the bed was there to soften his hips. He lived two years after that and I was grateful every day that he had a bed so wonderful in his last years. We still have that bed and it’s in the same supportive condition it was when we got it. Seriously, we’ve bought three more BB beds since then and I can’t tell them apart. I know it does seem like Big Barkers beds cost a lot when you order one, but the moment you unpack it and your large breed companion lies down on it, you immediately see how incredibly supportive it is to her/his shoulders and hips. We love our big dogs so dearly and try to do every thing we can to give them the longest possible life. Big Barker beds (with the rounded head ‘pillow’) provide the best, most comfortable, supportive and long lasting bed for your dog to nap and sleep on. I wouldn’t steer you wrong. Nothing compares to the quality of the BB foam. Our smallest, 11 month old German Shepherd weighs 65, our next youngest 15 month old Cane Corso weighs 125. Our 11 year old Cane Corso is 110 (she is solid muscle) and she amazes the veterinarians with her remarkable agility and good health. I think we have such remarkable dog longevity because we exercise them for at least an hour every morning, feed them high quality food but keep them very slender, provide Big Barker beds, train them to be good and give them lots and lots of praise, love and kisses. PS: the picture is of three Barkers (the middle one is flat) end to end behind our recliners in the tv room: wall-to-wall dog lounge beds, pretty much where they always want to spend their evenings.

Stop looking at other beds & buy this one! BEST orthopedic bed ever!
So far this has been THE BEST dog bed we have ever had / been able to find (we have searched a lot, read many reviews and have had many beds over the years). We have an older 150lb Dane mix and purchased the extra large sleek bed in chocolate and the waterproof cover separately. We decided to get the additional cover as we know when they age accidents may happen and we did not want to take any chances as we hope to have this bed for a long time. Our big boy fits perfectly and it’s seemed to help with him getting up and down already. The bed is supportive enough for him and does not sink at all. They aren’t kidding about the 7” thick. It was packaged very well and it expanded to size just as described. It’s an incredibly supportive bed and yet not hard. We’ve all sat on it with him and it still doesn’t sink or compress. There was no odor and the additional cover is not noisy. We are thrilled with the long warranty and the quality. Our dog took to the bed immediately. We have a smaller mix breed (50lbs) that loves the bed too and may need her own :) The cost was steep, however we don’t regret the purchase. I do wish the waterproof cover had been included (given the high price for both). We selected the sleek version as we have another bolster bed that neither of our dogs put their heads on the bolster, so we did not feel the other version with the head rest of this bed was necessary, but if your dogs like a pillow / to rest their head higher the other version may be better. The “chocolate” is true to color. It does show little wet spots when they lick themselves and hair shows a little, but for a suede type feel / look that’s expected. Given how many beds we’ve gone through and tried over the years, when I add up the cost of all of those it probably is the same or more than what we paid for this. I wish I had found this many years ago and did not have to go through all the others. I’m glad we did find this bed finally and have no regrets! I’ve already told my friends and vet about this bed as I really believe all dogs need a very good quality/ supportive bed, not just when they are older with problems, but from the beginning of life to help avoid issues. The only thing I can’t speak to is the durability if your dogs chew / destroy beds.
