Unsure if a placebo for heat protection but maybe I'll try the straighteners on toast test to be sure. Used on both wet and damp hair, even on dry hair prior to heated hair styling with a hot brush. I liked the size good amount for travel, not a huge bottle to hall about or try to decant. Felt it a decent, fair pricepoint for a nice product.
