I purchased two of these "GELRHONR Cat6 Ethernet Network Patch Cable with On/Off Switch" cables. Both exhibit the same problem of intermittent connection. They connect on rare occasions, but fail most of the time. Wiggling the connectors in the sockets of both the laptop and the router made no difference. Exercising the switch also does not fix it. Replacing the switched cable with the previously used solid cable always fixed the problem.The RJ-45 jacks in most laptops are only rated for a few hundred mating cycles. I had hoped to extend the life of our laptops by using these cables.Other reviewers warned of the poor reliability of these cables. I should have believed them. GELRHONR obviously does not test them before they go out the door and they have ZERO interest in quality control or their customers.

It works perfect when I need to disable th internet.

I tried this on two PCs running Win11 and Win10. The extension cable I used on the working experiment was a cat6 professionally made cable. The other computer used a cat5 handmade cable, and I did not get ethernet at all with the cable switched on or off. I swapped the extension cable with a pro cable, and I still did not get ethernet with the switch cable. I pulled the switch cable off, and the normal extension cable worked. Maybe the switch cable is defective.. So... I tested the switch cable on another 3rd PC. running Win11. The switch cable did not work under any circumstances. I swapped the cables around so that it was next to the PC or next to the network switch. Did not help. The normal cat6 cable worked well in all cases by itself. This one is being returned. I bought two of these cables. The other one worked perfectly. I also would perfer that a lable of some sort was on the switch. There is no ON or OFF label. I rapped the OFF side with red electrical tape. Yes, I know I can check the network icon on the taskbar or search ethernet on the system for the status.

Somehow the switch only cuts off connection incompletely. It works sometimes, but occasionally data will flow with the switch in the off position.

I love these cables. I use it as a network kill switch. In case there is a firewall breach, this switch just stop on its track instead of disconnecting. Very nice. Planning on getting another.

Product is HOT GARBAGE, fails to sever connection. When you flip the switch it does sever the connection...for about 2 seconds. Then it reconnects in the OFF position.

This item completely switches my Cat 5 connected computer internet connection on or off, depending upon what I choose.
