My husband works from home. Our landline phone did not have a ringer "off" button. This was the best solution. I added the color dots so it would be easier to tell when the line was on or off.So far, so good!

I installed the switch on the fax machine, easy enough. Then turned the switch to OFF.Next day I see a new junk fax! I thought the switch wasn’t working. On a hunch, I turned the rocker switch to the ON setting and tried calling the number.Voila! It works!**ON means the switch is blocking the phone line; OFF means the phone line is open and the calls will go through. NOT INTUITIVE!**

Works ok once you figure out what is on and off. O means its on and blocking calls. I means its not blocking calls.

It seems that a large number of the reviews are having a problem seeing the basic distinction between on and off. But what they are doing is to look at this switch as providing a feature (i.e. call blocking), and if the switch is turned on, then the feature should be turned on. This is exactly opposite of what is actually happening. This switch is not providing a feature, it is simply connecting and disconnecting the phone line, so, if the switch is on, then that means the phone line is connected and your phone / fax will ring. If the switch is off, then the phone line is disconnected and will not ring. The bottom line is that this thing is doing exactly what it is supposed to do, and the switch label is correctly showing that THE PHONE LINE is on or off. No "call blocking" is taking place. The switch is simply turning OFF the phone line which effectively blocks or stops the call from coming through. This is like saying that a light switch in your home is "blocking" power from getting to your lamp when you turn OFF the switch! It did not turn off the signal. It was useless. Waste of money!

This telephone line switch is well made. It has one side with the typical connection price, and the other side has the adapter to allow you to clip in another telephone cord.Unfortunately, when I tried using the on-off switch, it did not have any effect on the phone line. So, I was not able to use it.

Easy installation and it works. Some have commented that the on/off switch labelling is confusing but it doesn't matter. Plug it in, pick up the phone and listen for the dial tone. If you hear it, flip the switch and you'll hear it stop. Done. Now go and have an undisturbed nap. Don't forget to flip the switch when you get up.

The unit works OK ..but had to determine first what was on and what was off.. once done we were OK.
