Design Your Own Coat of Arms: An Introduction to Heraldry (Dover Children's Activity Books)

Did a lot of research on this subject to present to my art class. This little book was a great summary of the whole topic and was helpful to get my students started on their own projects.

Rosemary A. Chorzempa's 'Design Your Own Coat of Arms: An Introduction to Heraldry' is an enjoyable and informative book, full of crisp, detailed black and white sigils for the many, many, many houses and bloodlines out there.While I found it to be informative, it did read a bit slow, and I had trouble staying with it til the end. My son - no interest in it at all.Still, my ADD is my short coming, not the books, and so I still gave it high marks for originality and enjoyability. Based on a previous review I read here, I liked the idea of utilizing this book to create a themed birthday party with its information.It also has served me well whilst painting my collection of medieval miniature soldiers,Nice. Not thrilling. But Nice.

Interesting

This was exactly what I wanted, I had one as a kid and lost it durring a move. I have used it for some art projects since and am very glad to have it again.

Trying to Create my own Coat of Arms

We have enjoyed making our own coat of arms and learning about some of the details behind the original creation of these items. I would have preferred more information on what the standards symbolized, etc. We will be enlarging our design and painting on the wall of my son's bedroom!

Templates were not made so you could print and use. There were lines and letters on the template, which could be cut off finished shield, but shields were only 4 1/2" by 3" too small for kids. It did have good examples of charges and not too elaborate for kids to cut, color and paste.

I am having a Cub Scout event. This book has been invaluable. . .I highly recommend it!

Very good. Using the book for History Club at school. This book has lots thay can be used by students to help design their own coat of arms. Highly recommended.

円高もあり？日本で安く手に入ったので買いました。紋章の法則について一通り平素な英語で説明されていて、とりあえずこれでも十分だなぁと思って読み終えました。『マスターキートン』の話しで、紋章を使って人捜しをする回があったと思いますが、これ読むとそう言うことか、、、向こうじゃ常識？と思います。あと国の紋章の説明も面白いです。難点は図版の線が綺麗じゃない。コンピューターでイラストレータなどでデザインしているのも風情がないですが、スクロールに載せてある文字とか風情もなく下手です。

PAIDD FOR 2 GOT 1. As one of these was a gift I did not return it. Order everything separate as they cant read. The book itself is good but I had to give it away so cant use it myself and am not paying for a 3rd one.A little ticked off for sure.
