Nero: Alliance Series, Book 1

🌶️🌶️🌶️.5I’ll start with this: if I didn’t have to adult I would have had this book done the next day. It pulls you in from the beginning. It is not a slow burn. This was actual the first book that I’ve ever bookmarked a few pages. The detail that went into those particular pages had me feeling it.Payton had a rough life and ended up running away at 17. She had lots of emotional scars and didn’t want or need anybody. But her comes Nero, who’s older and had a rough time too. He doesn’t know what he wants but he is the first to really figure out between the 2 of them what he wants.There is the perfect amount of spice, and a great story line that seriously ropes you right in. I can’t wait to start King!

Wow, what can I say. The book has a good touch of everything. Hot romance, toxic cuteness, hilarious banter/inner dialogue, heartfelt traumas, and understanding acceptance.Hot romance: the FMC and MMC connect on such broken levels that they both draw out the lost emotions in each other. The smexy scenes are well written and the possessiveness from both characters are present as they are alive and well.Toxic cuteness: if this wasn’t a fiction, the stalkerish persona/tendencies that the MMC takes wouldn’t be as cute but it works for the MMC. Tilly writes his character so well that instead of it being offensive, it brings a sense of understanding to the MMC. His inner battles gives you a glimpse of his conscience and that dynamic brings a different touch to his actions. The way the FMC reacts to said stalking was a bit irrational as well but I can understand where she comes from, courtesy of her character built by Tilly. The give and take was a nice touch as it added more depth to each action.Hilarious banter/inner dialogues: y’all, these parts had me ☠️☠️☠️☠️. I was not expecting to laugh so hard. Out loud. KACKLINGGGG! To the point where my husband was looking at me like I was crazy. 🤣. The inner dialogues the MMC has with himself brings a great aspect to his character. He knows he’s trippin. And it’s funny af to hear him chastise himself. On top of the inner dialogues, the banter he engages in with his best friend is one of true friendship. They’re so funny when they bust each others chops that you can’t help but appreciate how much they care for each other. Even when they’re doing something nefarious, they undoubtedly held a comedic touch, whether they meant to or not. Tilly did a fine job explaining their bonds. It’s one of the reasons I like the MMC so much. I think he’s funny AF.Heartfelt traumas: At one point while reading the FMCs chapters I felt so bad for her. To the point where I couldn’t help but just sigh and shake my head. I could only imagine how she felt and her reality was just…sucking. I wanted to cry with and for her sometimes. While the MMC did have his own battles, it served as more of a reference/turning point than anything else.Understanding acceptance: due to how the characters are built, there’s this ease of comprehension that occurs. While both are broken, both have an inherent understanding, even if it took a bit for one to catch up to the other. This knowledge of how they know each other so well, is was made their actions so much more intimate. Be it the time it’s weaponized or the times they don’t question one another. I love how it expands when they establish their feelings and though it would be crazy to gloss things over IRL, in this world that was built around them, it was a seamless transition that spoke volumes without much elaboration.This book was great and I can’t wait to read the others. It was a great first introduction to S.J. Tilly for me.

From the moment this book was announced i could not contain my excitement for it! It became an instant anticipated read of mine and i started counting down the days until i had this beauty in my life! I had to dive into The Alliance world right away. I devoured this book in one sitting. Whenever i pick up one of Ms.Tilly's books i know i am in for one unforgettable ride of a story and oh was Nero all of that and more! This book is utter perfection and i absolutely loved every second of it!Nero and Payton's journey had me hooked from beginning to end! Nero is part of The Alliance and Payton works at the Twin's café. When a man comes through Payton's patio door, her world gets shaken up. Nero can't get Payton off his mind and he's obsessed with her. Can Payton's light and Nero's darkness join together for something beautiful? Or will danger rip them apart before they can begin?Okay, the way Nero and Payton are brought into each other's lives is one of the most unique first meetings i have ever read! I was on edge, waiting to see how everything would unfold for these two. I loved peeling back their layers and getting the depth that truly got to me. The chemistry was undeniable and heat filled between Nero and Payton! These two had my kindle ablaze! Their connection got me right in the feels! 😍I related to Payton on such a soul deep level and felt like we were kindred spirits. She's one of the most beautiful and relatable characters i've ever read. Nero and his obsessive, protective, and wrathful ways had me falling head over heels in love with him! 😍 Every feeling he brought from his words to his emotions, he stole my heart completely just like Payton did.Yes, your honor, I'm in love with Nero and ALL his red flags. Stick a fork in me because I'm done. Nero has forever ruined me and I love him for it! I'll forever think of him and Payton whenever i see roses or anything rose scented, if you read this book, you'll know. 🥵🔥I thoroughly enjoyed getting into The Alliance world and what the other characters brought to the story, especially King!I highlighted so many parts of this book, here's just a few of my favorite quotes -"For you, I'm f * cking certifiable. ""I would dig my own heart out of my chest before I'd hurt you.""The villains always have more fun.""Because you're mine."This is one of my top reads of 2023 and my new favorite from this author!With Nero, Ms.Tilly has created such a dark, original, and oh so addictive mafia read that captured this heart of mine and left it's mark! She knocked the darkness right of the park! With every book, Ms.Tilly proves she was born to write and touch readers souls with her words. There are so many levels to her writing and i thank her for bringing all of them to us. I am so dang excited for the next book in The Alliance world! ❤️🌹Be sure to read the author's content warning.

I devoured it in just a day it was super spicy a lil over the top with Nero being such a walking red flag but I was here for it it also had some sweet moments and just enough action I definitely recommend to anyone looking for a quick spicy mobster like romance 🥰

I really loved this book . I was laughing out loud at some of the story and the MMC and FMC were soon good it made the book come alive. Totally well worth the read.

There is blood gunshot rocket launcher . But there is also cute dog coffee and cuddles. Must read romance book

Nero is for the dark romance girlies who love a bit of humor with their red flags. This book perfectly sets up the tone of the rest of the series while giving us a romance full of swoony moments, intensity and incredible plus size rep!
