Durable base primer for aluminum
I used this zinc phosphate etching primer as the base primer on a stern drive for a boat. I did not remove all of the OEM paint, but had several areas where the OEM paint was removed down to the base aluminum in order to remove areas of corrosion. This primer was utilized as the base over those bare aluminum areas as well as what was left of the OEM coatings, which were also sandblasted lightly to promote adhesion. All base aluminum was first chemically cleaned with an alkaline based aluminum cleaner to remove any aluminum oxides, then rinsed with water. This primer sprayed nicely over the aluminum as well as the OEM paint. I then waited the instructed 24 hours minimum before spraying the next step, which was 2-part epoxy primer. This was followed with and acrylic lacquer color coat, and acrylic lacquer clear coat. This process appears rugged, attractive, and should last a long time. I will update this review if I should discover any flaws with this primer and it's ability to adhere to such a demanding application.

Fantastic primer for aluminum
I used the JENOLITE Universal Etch Primer on a TGV aluminum housing, and I’m impressed with how effortlessly it adhered to the surface. Application was straightforward—I applied three coats, spacing them 30 minutes apart, and the finish looks solid and even. I haven’t applied the next layer of paint yet, but given how well this primer bonded to the aluminum, I’m confident it’ll provide a strong base for the topcoat. The product feels reliable for prepping tricky surfaces like this, and so far, it’s exceeded my expectations. If you’re working with aluminum and need a primer that sticks without fuss, this one’s worth a shot. See pictures for reference.

Used this on a stock tank
Very happy with product. No rust. Great adhesion with later applied combination of paint and sand. Used for an outdoor pond/aquarium.

Works well to give a grip.
Really good. I thought it would dry slightly sticky...but It seems to have a sandy texture. Worked well to give my cable measuring device a grip.

Adheres well to Galvanized Steel. Economical etching primer.
Use this as a base coat on galvanized steel (like conduit) - sticks well to the galvanized finish and then top coat with color needed to match surrounding paint. This is far more economical than other etching primers I have used. Overall a great product. Wish Amazon would stock, as due to delivery time - but worth the wait.

If your needing a good quality primer, here it is...
The quality of the primer is awesome, but the spray tip was awful.. It sprayed in one straight stream and made it very visible it was spray canned... even tho it dries very quickly and it's great to sand, but it was more a waste of paint trying to cover everything evenly...
