A funny and charming book
My son absolutely loved this book and we would read it almost every night because he thought it was funny that the princess and the pig get switched at birth. Also it was a story I didn't mind reading to him again and again. I bought this to give to my 4-year old niece and nephew because they will enjoy it too.

Great Story
Such a cute story. Merges a couple classic fairytales to make a unique story.

Pig Princess, Princess Pauper
Princess and pig, switched at birth. Call it class warfare if you like, but I call it funny. The way the court treats the pig princess, who acts about the way you would expect, is a hoot. Then there's the king and queen's justification for having a pig for a daughter: "'A bad fairy has done this,' [the king] explained. 'The fairy wasn't invited to the princess's christening, so she's turned the baby into a piglet to get her revenge. It's the sort of thing that happens all the time in books.'" (He holds a copy of Sleeping Beauty in his hands as he says this, natch.) Then again, the farmer's wife gives a similar explanation when a baby girl appears in the back of her husband's cart. Will the two daughters ever get switched back? Look for real life happily-ever-afters in Emmett's sly riff on the predictability of fairy tales. The book is made all the more terrific by Bernatene's strong acrylic illustrations, which are a touch cartoonish, but still dimensional enough to give proper heft to this clever piggy tale.

Cute book
My 3 year old girl loves this book. She just about has it memorized, and there is a fair amount of text. I think it is very cute and clever. I love how the family is honest even though they don’t have to be and it is hard for them to be. Great story.

We love this story
You just have to read it. The references to things that "happen all of the time in books" are a laugh.

My five-year old grandson checked out this book from the library and had so much fun listening to his Mother read it to him
One of our favorites! My five-year old grandson checked out this book from the library and had so much fun listening to his Mother read it to him. When I read it to him weeks later, he could hardly contain himself with anticipation as to what I would discover at the end of the book. We loved it so much that I purchased the book for him, and later purchased one as a gift for a friend who recently became a new Grandma. My grandson and I inscribed it to her in the hope that she will enjoy sharing the joy of reading with her new granddaughter. Because, "that's what happens in books". Well, maybe not in all books. (lol)

A fairytale with a twist
My nearly six year old seen this book on CBeebies and really liked it. As always Amazon prime was able to provide book and great cost. We have read this many nights and it never fails to provide lots of lovely giggles. A nice message about being happy with what you have and that wealth and Royalty isn’t always better. Would recommend for any child who likes fairytales.

very funny
This is one of the funniest story book ever. I bought it after we had borrowed it from the library and the kids loved it so much they didn't want to bring it back. The illustrations are hilarious, as is the story
