Steel Wool | Wire Wool 200g extra-fine 0000 polishes waxed wood, copper, brass, and matt surfaces, cleans glass

After wasting money on Stove glass cleaning pads that wear out really quickly, I found recommendations on various forums from others that use fine grade steel wool for cleaning glass on everything from windows, car windscreens to fuel stoves. I was really tentative at first as I had just bought a new piece of door glass for our multi fuel burner and was worried about damaging it, but I was really surprised at just how well this works for cleaning stove glass. Similar to the way you use stove cleaning pads you use this steel wool on dry glass, and the steel wool it lifts up really burnt on soot and creosote marks. You can rub on the glass quite hard and it doesn't leave any marks or scratches on the glass at all. It also works brilliantly on oven door glass, polishing stainless steel sinks, cooker hoods, (anything stainless steel really). A 200g pack may not seem very large but the pack is about 30cm long and it lasts a long time. I bought a pack in January, I've used it to clean my stove glass daily, plus used it every few weeks to clean the oven glass and other jobs, and I still am only about half way through the pack. So not only is it really effective it's also great value for money.

You'd think steel wool would be steel wool, but no, this is definitely better quality than standard grade, it's clearly been made to higher specifications. The range of grades is a bit bewildering, but generally go for 000 for keeping metal bright or taking debris off glass, and 0 for when you need some actual abrasion. I've not used the coarser grades. Overall highly recommended.

Good at cleaning glass front of my wood burner. Won't take off heavy staining you will need a ceramic scraper for that.

The grade of wire wool for fetching your wooden furniture down to a point from which you can then repolish with beeswax polish - get away from dark brown furniture to a lighter more natural colour that shows up the grain of the timber

Did sand easily. Leaves a bit of debris but easy to clean

A woodworker recommended Tollull brand steel wool to me. It really is better than the more common brands you find at hardware stores. More strength, less shedding, just does the job better.
