LED-56-ZK Black Adjustable 56 LED Ring Light Illuminator for Stereo Microscope (Black)

I bought this illuminator because it was the only one I could find that would fit my old Scherr Tumico stereo zoom microscope. The unit specifications indicated it had an inside diameter of 2.5"/ 62.5 mm. When I received it, I tried attaching it to my scope and it wouldn't fit. I measured the inside diameter and it was indeed about 62.5 mm. A quick conversion showed that 62.5 mm is only 2.46 inches. Not wishing the go through the hassle of returning it, I used a drum sander on an electric drill to remove about 1/2 mm from the inside circumference of the mounting flange. Then is slipped snugly on my scope. As a result, the 3 set screws weren't needed so I removed them.The unit is made of plastic so it it very light weight. It provides excellent illumination, which can be controlled from zero light to max with the dimmer knob. There is an on/off switch and a little green LED to indicate when the the AC/DC adapter is plugged in and active even if the on/off switch is set to "off"Overall, I am quite satisfied with this illuminator, despite the fact I had to grind off some plastic to make it fit my scope.It's well worth $14.00..UPDATE: 2/07/2018. i bought this light a week ago for just $13.99. I see the price has unfortunately jumped to $18.99. But the same light from the same vendor, (but white instead of black), is still available for $12.99. Interesting.

In the lab kit for my college courses I received a microscope with a mirror as a primary Light Source, which wasn't practical for me. I purchased this light after doing a little bit of searching. I don't think its meant to be used with the type of microscope that I have but, it's working perfectly fine and is more sturdy than I anticipated.

Helped make my microscope mutch more useful.Kinda wish it didn't have an always on power indicator.

Used to replace a halogen fibre optic illuminator. Saved the desk space and is nice and bright.
