Time Out Barcelona (Time Out Guides)

Outstanding series of travel guides that are best for PLANNING a trip, and researching a place vs. sightseeing or touring once there. TimeOut uses locals to update the books every few years -- try to get the most recent edition for whatever city. They each have the history of a place, local culture, factoids, hidden gems that only the locals know and must sees. I benefit from reading a guide BEFORE I plan the trip, then using the guide to make final selections on where to go, what to eat, best shopping, etc. Once there, I find myself frequently saying, "that was in my guidebook" even if I didn't plan for it. TimeOut Guides are very comprehensive. Easy to read, amazing "getting there" info, vibrant photos, decent maps, fantastic excursion info for day trips, menu translators, and better "arts/music/LGBT/nightlife" sections than ANY other travel guide, bar none.A criticism is that because it covers so much, it doesn't cover everything in much detail. For example, if you are a men interested in where to by local fashions (and in Barcelona, this is a common thing), the guide doesn't give you much to go on. HINT TO TIMEOUT, add a Men's shopping section. Tons of shopping info/options, but is it a men's boutique? If you are looking for tapas in a particular neighborhood, you may get one or two listings. Better than other books, but there are dozens of good options.Part encyclopedia, part travel planner, part cultural magazine, TimeOut guides are the best!

I purchased my first "Time Out" Barcelona back in 2008 and it was spot on. Extremely accurate, user friendly and the restaurant recommendations can be trusted without question. I was so impressed with the guide that I purchased this one for friends who are planning a visit in June and told them to follow every word. I travel quite often and this is by far the best travel guide I have used.

That said, it is very accurate - pretty much all information is up-to-date and clear3. it is created by the joined efforts of the editors of [...] - a great guide to Barcelona's lifestyle and sight destinations. And considering that they write a successful magazine about Barcelona, you cannot go wrong4. Style of writing is very captivatingWe don't like about it....1. The Kindle version is not organized well - indexes and some maps are missing. Go for the printed version2. The printed version is not pocket size and takes quite some space, but well, it is worth its size

I normally use the time out guides as my bible when eating in foreign cities, but I had at least two bad steers here. After walking miles to find a highly recommended vegetarian restaurant I had one of the worst meals ever. I think that perhaps the Barcelona guide needs updated.

Good guide. I generally like the Time out guides as they look out the usual sites and some of the more interesting and vibrant parts of town. The information in this was uptodate at the time of purchase.

Bought this Time Out guide for Barcelona after being impressed by a borrowed Time Out guide for Madrid for a previous weekend break. Covered everything I needed to know and more.

Great guide used it to plan all our activiites and discovered some great places to eat too. Would definitely recommend althought the text is very small, sometimes difficult to read.
