Tried all the statin drugs with terrible side effects. ( irregular heart beats, cramps, cognitive episodes) All would disappear when I stopped them. I have been using this product for at least 8 years, and I got my cholesterol down to 146 from 253. My doc says keep doing what you are doing. You all know how hard it is to get a doctor to approve anything OTC. FYI . I take a high grade fish oil capsule with high amounts of EPA, and DHA in them. (6 a day and no fishy taste) Cardiologist told me that is the problem. People don't take enough of them. I take 4 cholestine, and 6 fish oil a day. He said it is like squirting your arteries with WD-40

I started using this product 18 months ago, based on researching products to lower cholesterol. And it worked. It probably works because this product is reputed to contain a statin created by 'natural' means. I only take half as much as the recommended use and get annual blood tests to ensure my kidneys and liver are working normally.However, it has come time to purchase it again, and I notice that the FDA (7/9/2021) put out a 'public notification' that this product contains lovastatin, an FDA-approved drug for treating high cholesterol.Not sure how this will play out, but if you are using (or will use) this product, you should probably consult with your doctor to ensure that you are not suffering any side-effects from the use of statins.

I tried another brand, once, and my cholesterol shot skywards! My cardiologist said I had to commit only to Cholestene brand. Have been taking it 21 years.

This works wonderfully for my cholesterol levels. In 3 months the overall dropped from 289 to 174 and the bad dropped from 174 to 102. I highly recommend this for people concerned with memory loss due to statIn drugs.

I was taking 2 caps once a day with 1 Quonal tablet for 6 months. My overall cholesterol was reduced from 300 to 250.I then realized that it’s supposed to be taken twice a day🤦‍♀️ Now that I’m taking it twice a day, I hope my cholesterol will be reduced even more.

I started taking cholestene after doing some research. My total cholesterol was slightly high at 205. I wanted to do something about it, but I didn't want to take a prescription medication. I started taking this product and continued to do so for 1 year. The next year I had my cholesterol tested and it was 160. This was due to the product as my exercise level and diet did not change in any way during that year. I can't say it will work for everyone, but it worked for me.

I have used this product with great results, but now that the FDA has warned there is "lovastatin" in these, I am concerned. Is it naturally occurring? Is it added? And why, after years, has the FDA put out a warning? And Amazon has STOPPED its subscription service. CAUSE FOR WORRY??? Time to STOP?
