Such a great idea!
I purchased this city moleskin for our mini-moon trip after been given the Paris notebook as a birthday gift by a friend, and now cant imagine going away without one! I love the style and layout of these books. I would say its half scrapbook and half guidebook. There are comprehensive maps of the whole city, useful information and tips for your trip. They are both like, and unlike a guidebook in that you can document your own adventure, make notes of things you’d like to do, take notes, keep snippets from your trip and have something personal to look back on after you have left. Because who would look back through a guidebook after your trip? Since guidebooks are now becoming obsolete with websites like lonelyplanet, trip advisor etc and our ability to use online resources, I think this is a much better and much more valuable option. Especially for round about the same price (or cheaper than) the average guidebook. I still look back through these and remember things we did fondly. I particularly liked the tracing paper provided and the little pocket at the back for cards from restaurants/ ticket stubs etc that you might otherwise lose.

Moleskine is the Ultimate in Good Taste!
This is the last word in style, elegance and practicality. It has everything you could ever want in a notebook to record your travels. It is flexible enough that you can customise it to your own demands yet it incorporates everything that you will need - Paris metro map, street map, directions to main and lesser known tourist attractions, restaurant reviews (and space to write your own comments on meals etc)... it is a complete guide with lots of space to 'write your own guidebook' as they say in the advert.I love Moleskine for the way it feels in your hand and your pocket and this one does not disappoint. It has those little rounded hardback covers that are so useful when trying to write standing up or without a surface to lean on and there are three bookmark ribbons as well as the usual elastic one. The paper is top quality and it makes writing an absolute pleasure!Amazon's price is the cheapest you will get anywhere - I have researched this and you could pay a lot, lot more for this product!

I like it but...
This is a lovely product, Moleskines are in my opinion, well made and gorgeous, however, as previous mentioned by other reviewers, the maps are somewhat jumbled in their placement. This makes it more difficult than necessary to use them. The maps themselves are clear and the tracing paper is useful.I purchased this as a gift to myself and my son for our London adventure, so that we can make notes and draw pictures etc and keep it as memento. I've given four stars because of the above mentioned reasons and also because it seems to lack substance, there are plenty of black pages for notes and divided pages for addresses/ideas for places to visit, I would have preferred more headers and perhaps coloured tags.

moleskine porn
i adore moleskine's and the travel ones have great maps, and tabbed sections that you can use for place you want visit or notes on what you have done. the only thing about them is you need to find a decent pen as ink is slow drying on them and also there is no place in the notebooks to hold a pen, this is a real shame. but doesnt stop me using moleskine diary's every year, and several note books... i think im addicted!

Tested in its natural environment
Moleskine is great, we've tested it while walking around Paris and boy, how useful this was! Handy map, including plan of metro stations (which is essential, while traveling around this city).Moleskine philosophy itself is great. You can customize your map by using transparent foils and making notes on it. You have lots of pages for your own notes. All in all - great companion for any traveller.

The maps are great but not keen on the rest…
I loved the inclusion of the BART, MUNI and street maps at the front of the journal. It’s the kind of thing I would try and glue in if I could and it was my main reason to purchase. However I wasn’t keen on the layout/structure of the rest of the journal and disliked the prescriptive approach as I prefer something a bit more freeflowing. For me I’d have preferred the maps (oh the us-uk-eu conversion ready reckoner page was also useful) and maybe a couple of pages for specific kinds of notes and the remainder just blank pages. I ended up breaking the spine and removing the maps section and sticking that into a separate journal. Worth trying to have a peek inside at the various sections to see if it would work for you. Not for me.

Do your own thing without drawing attention
I love these books. Useful maps and loads of space for notes. If you need a map and notebook, don't want to stand out as lost of confused get one of these. Load the note pages with information and set out for the day
