good brush
some bristles came out at first, but that is normal, this is a tool, treat it as such, rinse in hot tap water and shake after each use, then air dry with bristles elevated, little oil film left on is good for bristles, . Do not wash in dish washer, do not use soap often to clean, treat roughly, I take care of, and store this. (Notice the hole in handle?), same as I do with my knives and I am happy with it. Hope this helps.update 07/09/2013 I have not seen any more bristles come out since the first few, I use this brush 1 3 times per week, I treat it as above and it is a quality tool. I never put tools with wooden handles in my dishwasher.

Not consistent quality
I own two of these brushes. The first brush was of such great quality! None of the bristles fell out - I liked it so much, I ordered a second one to have on hand. I am quite disappointed to report that, with the second brush, the bristles do fall out! Not sure why one is good and one isn't - it's apparently not a consistently good quality product, which would explain so many of the mixed reviews. One brush does the job well, while the other one is going in the garbage so I don't have to worry about stray bristles getting into my food. I'd say this seems to be a "buy at your own risk" brush, you might get a good one, you might not.

Just Okay
I like the brush. I don't like that the brush drops it's bristles on everything.

Made in USA? NOT...
I purchased this brush based on the "County Of Origin-USA" listing. I thought this meant, made in the USA. It is not made in the USA. This listing is misleading. Fess-up Ateco, where is this really made? List it correctly, or how about manufacture in the US? What a concept.

Great soft brush!
I purchased the 1.5" brush specifically and exclusively to clean flour out of my grain mill storage container after milling grain. I tried my silicone pastry brush, but that was worthless for this task. I wanted something solid but soft, with enough bristles that the flour would actually brush out of the mill and fit into all the nooks and crannies. This brush fits the bill. It covered enough surface that the task was completed quickly, and didn't fling the flour like a stiffer brush might have. I've only had it a few days, and have only used it once, so can't comment on whether or not it sheds. So far, so good though. It is very thick, with lots of bristles, and the ferrule seems well secured on a nice wooden handle. Glad I found it on Amazon.

Bristles fell out on first use
Very disappointed, brand new brush! This brush was recommend by a very talented cake decorator.I used this brush to coat my baking pans for cakes with Crisco/Oil/Flour mixture, it is soft. The bristle were the same color as the mixture.I noticed in the second pan as I coated the pan there was a bristle. I removed it, then I found another one etc. I never thought I'd have to be aware of stray bristles on a pastry brush. So, I wonder if any bristles got in the other cake pan that I just baked. I removed the cake and flipped it over and I found about 15 bristles in the cake :(I washed the brush and the bristles just kept coming out of the brush. Either it was defective or not made as well as the older models. Be aware of this if you buy this product. I am going to request a new one and try again. I will keep you updated.

Good pastry/basting brush
I bought two of these for liquids - melted butter, egg wash, water. They work well, no loose bristles and easy to clean. I clean them by hand in warm water with just a few drops of dishwashing liquid, then wrap the bristles in a paper towel to dry. Happy so far!Product update, 2/18/2016 - Sorry to report that after just a few uses, both of the brushes are shedding like long-haired cats in July. Very disappointing! I tried to treat them very gently - no hard pressure, wash in mild detergent and warm water, air dry. I have purchased two soft Purdy Nylox painter's brushes to replace these.

Fell apart when used with heat
The bristles fell out when I dipped it in warmed liquid. Had to throw away.

I am a semi-professional baker and am so disappointed that this is being sold as an upmarket professional ...
Two gentle uses and I had to spend ages picking hairs from my pies. After two gentle washes it was almost bare.I have now bought a paintbrushfor a third of the price from B&Q, have been using it for some time and am overwhelmed over how few hairs have been shed. I am a semi-professional baker and am so disappointed that this is being sold as an upmarket professional baking tool.

Fell apart. Horrible quality.
Fell apart after two uses. False description of how it’s made. This is not a high end pastry brush. Don’t be deceived. For the price I expected quality but the bristles were falling out the minute I opened the flimsy plastic bag they send it in...

Five Stars
Much quicker than using my old small brush

It lasted 1.5 years before going into the trash
***UPDATE***After a year an a half of light use the glue holding the bristles in let go. The way these are made it cannot be fixed. I expected these would be decent quality from the way the company boasts of their American based history...Low and behold these came from China...Go figure. Would strongly NOT recommendOriginal post:Nice quality and well made.
