Miss Manners means harmony at home.
The first thing Miss Manners acknowledges is that no one is perfect. What she does here is to help set the child up for success and make parenting less stressful. Miss Manners wants children to learn the rituals and rhetoric that will help them move almost flawlessly through the mazes of adulthood. She advocates civil and intelligent handling of childen, and she considers corporal punishment repugnant, a failure on several levels. If you are looking for a good read, entertaining real-people problems, and gracious guidance, here it is!

I don't even have kids and enjoy this book.
Miss Manners is a sly, snarky, and witty woman with a great attitude about child rearing. This book is not so much a step by step guide but, rather a large collection of letters and replies on all things family and child related. If you long for the good old days when kids were raised with good boundaries, structure and an expectation to behave respectfully, this book is a wonderful walk down memory lane. If you were to adopt her no-nonsense approach, other parents might gasp but, eventually they will be stricken with remorse when they realize your child didn't end up an entitled, narcissistic brat. Miss Manners will empower you to say "because I said so" without a hint of shame or weakness. She also gives plenty of delightful advice on how to deal with the childish adults in our lives along with practical tips on things such as how to create lasting family traditions.

Funny read, minor shipping damange
This book is funny and at the same time you can get a few tips regarding manners. My only complain is the packaging was not protective of the book and the book suffered some minor damage on the cover. Otherwise, the book was in excellent condition, almost new.

Best Parenting Book on the Market
Forget all those smarmy books full of buzz words and advice that will never work on real kids. Miss Manners knows what it really takes to raise polite kids. She also is so funny that you will literally laugh out loud while you read through this book. You'll read it straight through like a novel and you'll be so glad to have it on hand to answer questions that pop up. A fantastic baby shower gift!

humorous and fun to read
Interesting, humorous and fun to read. It is larger than I expected. It does have good information in it, and can be read a little at a time.
