Q: Hitch mounted running/brake lights look goofy, but I like the reverse light. Is there a way to make it function as a reverse light only?

no - you would have to determine which wire is responsible for the power to the constant on red running light. and cut that one. there must be a separate wire that provides power to the white led's which serve as the reverse light. best to call diode dynamics to determine which wire to cut to eliminate the constant on red running light feature. The c1R model has the brake light feature in addition to the constant on running light and reverse light functionality of the base c1 model.
