Great iron
I have had steam generator irons, and an optimal steam temperature iron in the past. This may seem a rather expensive iron when first viewed. However, it’s a quality build, easy to use no fuss iron. Providing the item of clothing can be ironed, you can’t go wrong. Iron from denim, to silk then wool and back to denim. No setting to alter, no scorched clothes. Put the iron on IQ mode, give it plenty of time to warm up and away you go. Delivers a good steam jet according to the speed of your ironing. Slow for denim = more steam. Fast for silk = less steam. I have a condenser tumble dryer and use the condensate water from there. Recommend treated water to stop scaling up. The lady of the house doesn’t like ironing. She was impressed by it. To me, that’s a testimony in itself. Expensive. But if you have a lot of ironing, it worth the money.

Expensive but best iron I have ever used.
I am a man who loves a gadget so when I needed a new iron the lack of a temperature dial got me interested. I have to say all the online reviews are right and this is a brilliant iron. Pros: *Can iron any type of ironable garment without needing to think about temperature. *No need to use a cloth to iron garments such as trousers that would normally look shiny. Ironing directly is easy and they look perfect. *using this iron I can iron twice as quickly as normal (bear in mind I am a man!) * No more using liquid descaller, just open the compartment underneath the iron and empty. Cons: # The iron is heavy although this means you don't have to press down too much when ironing, but could be a problem for arthritis suffers. # The colour looks great but it is difficult to see the water level. # As this is a high volume steam device watch those fingers when ironing small areas. # The cable tidy is pretty useless so I tend not to use it. All in all I have been using this for a few weeks and can recommend it despite the price.

Superb piece of equipment
This is an upgrade from our 'basic' iron. I mean this iron works wonders. So powerful and so much steam coming out it is sooooo easy to iron with this beast! Jean's, T- shirt or voile curtains? No need to switch setting go on just iron. Money well spend . Ps. it is on a heavier side to handle but when you iron the steam just makes it glide like on ice . I guess you can sense that we love our new iron..

Excellent iron.
Fantastic iron. Only 2 things not perfect: 1. It's heavier than most irons. The manufactuer is aware of this. In their use instructions, they state that it's safe to rest the iron on it's soleplate while hot. It is. The reason they suggest doing this is to have less straun on your wrist. Lol. 2. It's very expensive - much more than I normally pay for an iron, BUT, it's so east to use. No steam or temperature settings to adjust. Just plug in and go, glides across any fabric! The iron "knows" how hot to get and how much steam to produce. The easily removeable calc-clean is a plus, too.

Best Iron I’ve ever owned - Updated 3 years on
Great Iron with lots of steam, I got mine for £89, which is more than a bargain, because it has increased to £195! However if I knew then how good the Iron was I would happily pay the full price. The Iron is outstanding, and no matter how I let the the ironing build up, It really takes a small amount of time to iron everything. I really love this Iron, because every time I iron, it looks as if it's been professionally done. This iron makes it impossible to burn anything, even if it is left face down on silk! I don't know how it does it, but it just does. There are no thermostat controls so, you can Switch from jeans to silk without changing a thing. I have to admit I now look forward to ironing these days , because with this iron you really can breeze through your ironing in no time at all.

best iron i have purchased
cord length is brilliant and so easy to use my teenager can even iron. slightly more expensive but worth the money for time saved ironing shirts. no need to change settings, only need to fill with water slightly more often, but this is not an issue. iron is slightly heavier than previous irons i have owned, however after the second time of using it never even noticed the weight. total worth the money, for ease of use and time saved

Basic training? This iron rocks and then some.
I bought this iron to take with me when I started military basic training where I'd heard they're quite keen on uniforms that are ironed properly. Sure, I looked at irons under £30 first because buying an iron was so far down my priority list it wasn't on the list, but they wanted me to pitch up with an iron so there I was shopping for one. Boy, am I glad I didn't buy one of the el cheapo irons like the rest of my class did. When they were turning up on parade with scorch marks on their uniforms because they hadn't set their iron to the right setting for the right material, or they looked like they'd been dragged through a hedge backwards because they hadn't got their steam setting right, my kit was always crease free and looking sharp. This iron saved me no end of extra pushups, remedial kit training, and punishment details, and when push came to shove everyone wanted to borrow my iron because it absolutely nailed everything that it was tasked with from cotton shirts one minute to silk ties the next in half the time a more inferior iron took. This beauty uses some sort of mystical power to work out the right temperature setting for the right material, and the steam settings are so simple a four year old could work it out. Indeed, it even turns itself off if you forget to do that so even the RAF Regiment can use it. Forget the other irons, forget saving yourself a few quid, buy this beast of an iron and you'll be the smartest man in NATO.

Okay, but the first one broke
The iron is okay, it takes a long time to heat up though and the first one I had broke after 2 months.

Until a couple of days ago I owned the previous model of this iron, the GC5037/80 , which was a brilliant iron in all aspects until it stopped working. The lights showed everything working normally but it was not heating or steaming. That one lasted around 10 months. So why the 5 star review you ask? Well, enter Amazon's simply brilliant after sales service where I was asked to send the faulty iron back for a full refund. So I ordered the newer model, the GC5039/30. This model looks identical in every aspect except that its purple instead of black. It does feel a bit lighter and sturdier than the previous model and it is certainly a bit quieter, (even though the previous one was virtually silent). So possibly the updates for this model have been done under the hood, at least I hope that that is where the 60% increase in the price went! Which brings us to the price. It is not cheap for an iron, there is no other way to put it. But what this iron does is make a mundane, daily task more bearable and hassle free. The fact that I could be ironing a thick pair of jeans, then follow it with a delicate silk dress without causing any damage at all is verging on the magical for me. In a nutshell, I believe that you cannot really get a better iron than this one (i tried most of the top models of other premium brands). If you compound that with Amazon's excellent after sales service, then purchasing this one becomes a no brainer. Go for it, you will not be disappointed for sure.

Can iron stubborn wrinkle easily. Manage to iron the clothing in a shorter time as compared to my previous iron. Iron is a bit heavy though. Best Philips Iron I have.

Love how this iron saves me a lot of time over previous weekends when I would rather be relaxing rather than taking hours to iron out a heap of clothes! I use it on IQ mode, very convenient feature to have as there’s no need to change temperature. The weight doesn’t bother me, as my old one was a heavy one too. It releases a lot of steam which is wonderful to smoothen creases; which also means the water tank needs to be refilled very fast. I top up water 3-4 times to iron 20-25 pieces of clothes. Bought this to replace my old iron which leaked. Fingers crossed this is history!

Pumps steam just like a Steam Station. Glides on fabric does not burn and so easy to use.
