Just bought one of these. Do you have to push back the handel to stop flow or am I missing the spring that does that?

There is no spring. It’s not self sealing. Completely manual.

The spigot points to the side when connected to the keg. Is there a fix for that?

You should be able to loosen the collar, reposition the spigot and tighten to correct the angle. There is a wrench that can be purchased to loosen and tighten the collar. Search “keg wrench” and it will have a hook to fit into the holes.
