Accurate and easy to read
Very nice ruler, high accuracy (JIS Grade 1, traceable to the Japanese national meter). It’s easy to read with the non-glare surface and clear ticks/numbers. Mine is etched Made in Japan. Some reported the conversion charts were smudged or it was hard to remove from the sleeve, but mine was fine on both counts.

NICE!!!
Use it at work, I'm a machinist, and this thing is quality. Nice and straight - no annoying bend to it, clear markings, good thickness, hard to go wrong for the price. Wasn't sure if I was going to like the curved end without markings, but it's not an issue at all.

easy to see, precise ruler
My partner works for a company that prints and binds books on demand (POD). He needs precise measurements for the spines of the books. This metal ruler is easy for him to see under the industrial lights of the warehouse. The quality is great.

Very Good
Excellent 150 mm rule. This is super handy for precise, short measurements. The one I received was made in Japan. Both edges are marked. The half-millimeter marks on one side of the rule are probably beyond the precision I will need, but it is cool to have them. I like the plastic sleeve.

love this little guy
I love this little ruler, it's great for checking mm lengths before buying screws or various hardware. Especially as a person that uses freedom units, I need this since I can't visualize metric. The marks are engraved and painted, I believe they will hold up to the test of time. I've had mine for a few months now and it's working great, but I can't say if this is a 'buy once, cry once' kind of tool.

Great little machinist ruler
I work as maintenance at a factory, and our factory supplies these for maintenance to use if we desire. I have used mine at work for about 2.5 years and love how easy it is to read and how handy it is to take a quick measurement when you're working on something. I will also add it has held up very and I have not had any issue with the paint wearing off yet.I liked this ruler so much that I decided to buy one for use at home. Though it won't get as much use at my home shop I still find my self grabbing it to take a quick measurement on smaller pieces that I may be working with. For the price I would definitely recommend this.

a solid piece of measuring equipment.
I think this is like the third or fourth time I've bought this exact item. It's just such a useful tool, I've gotten one for the sewing room, one for the leatherworking table, one for the computer desk, etc. I like buying Japanese tools, and Shinwa is a top name in the measuring business. The ruler is made from a sturdy piece of steel, thick enough so I'm not worried about bending it. Every 50 mm is marked in red, which just looks nice. One edge is marked in millimeters, and the other edge goes down to half millimeters—the first edge is easier to use day-to-day, but it's nice to have the other edge for precision when needed. Most importantly, the measuring starts from the edge of the ruler. If I had a dime for every time I've measured something with another ruler only to later notice that the "0" was like three millimeters from the end…well, I'd have like 50 cents, but really, all rulers should emulate this one and have the measuring start from the very end!

An elegant, exceptionally well-made tool.
I love the non-reflective, anti-glare finish. The contrasting color and font size given incrementally for multiples of 50 is very useful in making the measurement easy to read. It is lightweight and small, but strong, not flimsy. I also appreciate the conversion charts on the reverse side. I like the addition of a hole on one end so the tool can be hung. All in all, this is a clever, well-designed tool. I love it and would consider buying other items from this manufacturer in the future.
