Lovely, Big Mouth, Solid and Secure
In life, my relative was big-boned: over 6 feet tall and weighing in at over 200 pounds. Finding a large enough urn was a challenge. Some of the ashes have already been scattered (a few handfuls), but basically I can say mostly all the ashes from a large individual fit into the lovely blue urn.If you’re like me and never bought an urn for ashes before, there are probably some things you don’t know that could be helpful: The top of this one is threaded, so you twist it in order open and close. Therefore, no tragicomic moments if or when they fall over like in the movies and somebody’s ashes go everywhere. The screw-top cap is easier to keep closed than the lid of the black plastic box my funeral home had for their least expensive option, which is a good upgrade in that aspect alone. The wide mouth of the urn made filling it as easy as possible, given that I was pouring from a plastic bag. I’m also thinking that the wide mouth should make it easy to grab a handful when needed (you know, in case you need something to grit the sidewalk when it’s icy out).I was sad to have to put someone’s ashes somewhere in the first place, but the shiny blue of this urn cheers me up when I pass by it.

Sturdy, easy to use. Balanced wonderfully, and absolutely stunning. It's a perfect tribute to a wonderful woman

No-Frills, No Extras, but Well-Made and Pretty
I thought this urn would be simple, and it is but I must say I'm pretty impressed with it. It's got what I'd call a classic marble finish that's elegant but understated, and that's perfect for someone I have in mind. I think she'll like it (she will not need it for a couple years but asked me to find one for her).It feels really solid in my hands. It's aluminum (probably an alloy) as advertised, with a lovely enamel painted marble image over the surface - I think it's hand-painted. What's really nice is the thick clearcoat over the enamel - it's really polished, and probably several layers thick. Looks sharp. The urn itself is pretty spacious, so if your loved one is larger, the fit should be OK, or at least so I was told by somebody "in the business." The secure closure the ad talks about is the metal aluminum top screwing flush into the metal aluminum urn, and it's not quite the smoothest action, but it's accurate to make a tight seal (but metal-on-metal, so far as I can see). It's a no-frills version but comes with a velvet bag, which is a nice touch. Probably a needed inclusion in such a product that's so finely finished, and will get moved around.I know some people might be looking for an urn with all sorts of fancy extras and embellishments, such as metal garnishing bands - I just got one like that for a different relative - but I actually like the simplicity of this one. At least for the right person. Somebody who doesn't want to reside in something they would consider garrish. LOL.It's a beautiful, well-made urn that looks good and doesn't have too much pizzazz. You can get more fancy urns at this price point, though, so I don't know if the quality makes up for the difference - either way it's OK since it's one-tenth of the price you'd pay from a funeral provider, so I'm happy with the dollars making sense (get it? LOL)I'm happy with this piece. It's beautiful and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a SIMPLE, but durable and elegant urn.

Beautiful!
My retired Navy husband is all business and decided it was time for him to arrange and prepay his funeral expenses. He does not want me to have to deal with it. The military will give him a plot, but he wants to be cremated and his ashes spread far away from where we live now. In the meantime, his cremains will reside in this beautiful blue urn that he himself picked out. His favorite color is blue... just like the seas he sailed upon. Another reviewer was concerned about it being top heavy, but once filled, it becomes quite heavy. The durable lid is a blessing with no worries about spillage. This is absolutely gorgeous!

Sturdy, substantial, nice pattern
I ordered this for my dog's ashes and it is definitely human-sized, but my 90 lb dog's ashes filled it about ⅓ full. The lid screws shut and the entire urn is made of a cool, lightweight alloy and dipped in a swirly blue pattern. The pattern looks great and doesn't have any weird mistakes in it which this type of finish is prone to -- it was obviously well and expertly made. Nobody necessarily wants to purchase this item, but when you have a need for something like this it's nice to get something well-made and good value. This is both of those things.
