Works Great!
The media could not be loaded. This worked great. I was walking up and down my yard shaking a bag of compost out and then raking it before I bought this. I give it 5 stars regardless of the cons listed below. I don’t see why you’d need to spend almost double on some competitor models.Pros:Evenly spreads a thin layer of material (in my case, the cheap compost from HD)Relatively straight forward to assembleBetter price than competitors ($70)Fun to use.Holds at least two full bags of compost. Maybe three.1 bag will get you about 30-40ft of travel before the basket is empty. But it lays out a fantastic level layer of material that’s far superior to what you can do by hand or rake.Cons:The frame of the basket sections leaves a blank strip on the ground when laying out material. For an OCD person, this means I have to make two passes to make sure no stripes. The top handle section doesn’t fit well into the bottom handle section. I had to wrap the bottom in electric tape before inserting so it was a little more snug. Due to the large gap, and no drainage at the bottom of the handle post, I was concerned about water getting in and rusting so I also wrapped the gap and open holes after joining them together. Now it’s snug and water resistant.Assembly is straight forward but the directions are awful. It’s not hard to figure out, but a little annoying to put together.Probably best to store this inside a shed or garage. The basket will likely start to rust out eventually due to scratches and it being carbon steel. Maybe wash it off and hit it with some spray paint at the start of the season to prolong its life. One of the holes I needed in the handle wasn’t punched out all the way, but all I had to do was tap it with a screw driver and the piece of metal fell right out.

Assembly difficult, bent parts
The screens that bolt to the end pieces where bent, the hole did not line up. I had to vise grips and a lot of arm strength to get the bolt holes to match. A little more care in packaging would help.

Product works great
The spreader works great. It took me a little longer to get it assembled, but I'm also not very mechanically inclined. Overall, I recommend this product to anyone looking for an effective way to spread peat moss, fertilizer or other lawn products.

Poor Quality
Instructions were not the clearest but you can make it out by basic setup assessments. The quality of the product is terrible. The connection between the spreader and the hands is using a small bolt followed by a couple washers and nuts. The handle connection is fighting against these washers and nuts which will fly off as soon as you roll the product with your peat moss. More time was spent trying to connect the handle to the spreader because the connection was very poor. No way around if besides using your own hardware. Really regret buying this.

Slight better than doing it by hand.
Overly complicated to assemble. Upon box opening, doesn’t look like much. Took me over an hour and I’m a decent DIY guy. Nothing is threaded on the actual drum, so you will need to hold one flathead on the outside bolt to prevent the locknut from spinning the entire small bolt assembly as you tighten the locknut from the inside of the drum.Once finally assembled, it will hold one half of a single 3cu ft bag of peat moss. This half bag will last you about 60 feet. Then refill. The top of A 3 cu ft bag will also not fit into the load window if the drum, so it is utterly inconvenient to attempt to hold the handle with your foot as you try to hold it from rolling, as you lift a bag of peat moss to the load window which won’t fit, then have to hold the bag with one hand as you try to loosen the compressed peat to fall into through the loading window into the drum.Probably the most frustrating part was 30 feet into the first run the nuts on the side of the drum that allow the drum to roll just unscrew themselves. After 20 minutes of dragging my yard with my nail magnet I found the nut and washer. Reassembled. Used a ratchet to tighten the ever-living heck out of it. Refill. 40’ later, same thing. Another magnet search. Reassemble.Upon better examination the assembly instructions have the inner nut and the outer locknut reversed in both the assembly instructions and the preset assembled order In the bag. Disassembled, and then reassembled the entire unit correctly.I believe the wire mesh acting as the drop holes are also too big. 3cu ft of peat moss covered maybe 120 linear feet. $200 of peat moss goes real fast when you can’t adjust how much depth coverage you are applying. If this would have cost $25 I would have just moved on with my life. But $70 for this much headache was hardly worth it.Two stars for the rigid steel construction and it actually being able to spread peat moss. Maybe I’ll try chopped straw next year and update if it works any better.

Bad craftsmanship. - UPDATE Seller offered refund
The assembly was going well until you notice the door hinge on one side was riveted on an angle which causes the door not to close properly (it essentially overlaps the fixed portion on one side. Very disappointed and cannot recommend this product. I will be returning itUpdate: Seller contacted me to offer refund (less import fees). I accepted this. Seller is honest and willing to work with you, so 5 starts for them, product still a one though.. so 3 average. Seller did promise to reach out when they correct the workmanship in the product.
