A must book for boogie-woogie
I have about 15 books on boogie-woogie, and most are worthless. For the most part, they come up with left hand patterns that are worthless when they go beyond the standard Root/Fifth..Root/Sixth combination, The right hand riffs and patterns are usually incredibly unmusical. This book is really well organized. The author breaks down what the masters did and he shows it in an orderly way. This book will save you a lot of wasted time struggling with boogie woogie.

Boogie Woogie Piano: Hal Leonard Keyboard Style Series
Excellent book for learning Boogie Woogie piano. Plenty of patterns to work on. Explanations are clear and concise. Easily understood. Boogie Woogie is not the type of music you should work on as a novice. For the advanced-intermediate player, it will be a challenge. One of the best books I have found. Book includes a cd so you can listen to examples fro the book and play along. Highly recommended.

Amazing and Excellent Guide
I purchased this for my wife and here are her comments: Boogie Woogie Piano will help you acquire the basic music genre and focus on boogie woogie harmonic structures and bass lines. Boogie Woogie Piano teaches right hand techniques, introduction, breaks and ending which allow you as an artist to create your own boogie woogie. I highly recommend this book.

Not for the Beginners
This book is for the more advance piano player. I am not, but by going at it slowly, some day I will be able to get the rhythm.

Just what I hoped it would be.
Just what I was hoping for. With diligent practice, this should have my playing up-to-snuff within a few months. I'd recommend for the advanced beginner to intermediate player. It will supplement other technique books. Satisfied with my purchase.

That it was still out there on amazon.
I give the book 5 stars for instruction to boogie woogie but the audio files skipped on several songs making it hard to follow. Wish I had got the book with c.d.

Another Hal Leonard piano book
Many books discussing Boogie Woogie piano playing are available. This is not even the best of the ones carrying the Hal Leonard name. Others are to be preferred.

Boogie Anyone?
My 12 yr old grandson is learning piano, and he especially enjoys Boogie Woogie. Nice to still know there are some music books around (and through Amazon) that he can have extra fun with music.

Get your Boogie-Woogie on
Piano players who've previously worked through Blues Piano by Mark Harrison will be treading on familiar ground with the layout of Boogie-Woogie Piano by Todd Lowry. It begins with left hand riffs, moves on to "Right Hand Melodic Riffs", and "Riffs for Intros, Turnarounds, Endings, and Breaks", before arriving at the penultimate "Style File" chapter. The book is only 7 pages shorter than "Blues..." but feels less meaty somehow. If you're looking to work on your playing after 'Blues Piano', you might want to give Stride & Swing Piano by John Valerio (with a chapter on blues and boogie-woogie) a try. It's a more natural progression, and feels like less of a side step. If you're only interested in playing Boogie Woogie, then this one's not bad. There's a lot of good info and plenty of music to practice. Not for absolute beginners. Players should know how to read music. This book doesn't teach the fundamentals.
