Q: Is this ponch made of ripstop nylon or polyester?

I believe this is ripstop nylon. However is not a military style pinch. There’s no grommets on the sides, and the grommets are to small and don’t accommodate a” military woobee, “ or poncho liner your preference of what you call the piece of Kit I am referring to

Q: Does flatulence stay trapped in the poncho?

Yes it will leave the poncho but when it does it then settles in the hood, where it takes up permanent residence. Best advice lift the poncho before, a wet butt is a small price to pay.

Q: Why do recent reviews mention smell of dead fish?

I've been hunting and fishing for 47 years and the smell was dead fish dead body dead something and why would you need formaldehyde on a raincoat isn't that kind of toxic that makes no sense. Yes mine when I received it smelled that way but customer service was very decent and decided to send me a new one.

Q: I'm 6'3"..Will this fit?

It will fit you in the shoulders and head, it's just a matter of how much of your lower legs won't be covered. I'm 5'11 and probably had a good foot, maybe 18 inches of my lower legs that were uncovered. If you're wearing a long-haul pack, add at least another 8-12 inches as the fabric will need to cover it. If it's a day pack, negligible loss of coverage.
