Once fitted it just unscrews. The spanner to undo the cap, is used when you want to clean out the debris taken in once it has been through the filter. Very sturdy & so easy to set up. The only thing that isn't so good is that it loses temperature quickly when the bubbles are on. It goes down by 1-2 degrees in a 20 min bubble cycle so we tend to start with it very hot & accept that after a 45 min session, the temp will be down to about 35 & then we get out.
